Comment:

The barometer for knowing which students showed promise at Babson revolved around what you thought of Collins. If you were a babbling moron incapable of even the simplest level of critical or analytical thinking then you never took Collins. If you wanted a life changing series of lectures that taught you to apprehend the world as an adult, you did.

Worst professor I've taken at Babson. I'm not just saying this because he is boring, but mostly because he is totally unreasonable. Don't walk, run, away from this professor. Even if you're a good writer it doesn't matter, you're still getting a C.

He is the most amazing professor that I've had at Babson - opened my eyes to so many things about history and about human though. He challenges you to really think about things deeply. Highly recommend taking his class!

If you are looking for an easy class DO NOT TAKE HIM. For the class I took, he requires you to buy 8 books (all VERY expensive) and assigns SO MUCH READING that you have to read for each class or you'll fail. He grades very hard . I regret taking his class.... Only bonus was not having a final exam.

Challenging but thought provoking class. I was nervous about taking him at first because I knew it would be a lot of work but all of the readings and papers were interesting and enjoyable (time consuming though). The class is a lot of work but its worth it. If you're looking for an easy A or B, don't take this class.

Comment:

Collins is one of the greatest professors we have at Babson. He pushes the boundaries for the school and should be a professor teaching at Wellesley, Harvard, Yale liberal arts establishments. This was a Cold War class that gave insight to human design. His view of the world is spot on but can also be extremely challenging. Would take again.

Demanding, creative professor. Most valuable asset at the college. Framed how I think about the world. If you don't rate him, it means you are dumb. Move on. He is the reason I drive a $200k car and make 7 digits every year. He hates that I just wrote that, but it is the truth. He brings complete intellectual clarity and ambition.

Believe me in this HE IS THE BEST TEACHER IN BABSON. he really offers education! you will learn so much in his class. Nothing in his notes or his books are random or arbitrary, HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING! even though he is demanding with the level of class discussion, believe me in this he is an EASY grader. dont care, his class goes beyond a grade

Only take his class if you want to be holed up in a stifling classroom sitting at a really tiny uncomfortable desk slowly watching the clock before you get to leave feeling horrible about yourself because the reading material is complicated and participating makes you feel even dumber. the only thing more confusing than the course is his grading.

I had him as professor at Babson during the 90's and his classes were the few that I truly enjoyed. He's demanding but that just means he respect students. His mission is to teach human beings and not automatons. I highly recommend taking his classes. It will change your life if nothing else.

His lectures are EXTREMELY interesting. He makes you think, and his grading is not difficult at all. I highly reccommend him. he does have an extremely short temper. Arrive late and he will get pretty mad. Ask a dumb question and he will target you out. Don't let that intimidate you though. Just read and you'll be more than fine, & get an A.

Hes really smart and a really good teacher. I thought his class was pretty interested. The class was reallly easy all my friends B+/A-'s I got an A. I thought he was easy defintley take him.

Had him for spy novel class, and he was so good I took another class I wasn't interested in just to have him as a prof again. Smart and funny, doesn't accept dumb answers and will make you look like an idiot if you give him one. Gets really pissed if you don't read the material, but he usually picks good stuff so this should be a problem.
