Comment:
If you can, take another professor. He is very intelligent and knows a lot about the subject, but his teaching skills are poor. I rarely understood what was going on in the lectures and I was there every class period and I tried to read the book. My advice is to study hard and work with other people.

Comment:
I highly recommend going elsewhere for a general physics course. Dr. Dye is extremely intelligent, but only focused on his research. He does not like to help outside of class, and when he does, he acts like it is an annoyance. He stopped half way through an example because he "didn't feel like finishing it", and he "doesn't like the books answers".

Comment:
Every sentence he says requires a dictionary. even the simple concepts he makes it harder than what it really is. Take this course at UH or during summer school. His lectures do not prepare you for the online homework. Ask him to slow down, he'll become mad. He is the prime example of a typical arrogant and confusing physics professor.

He's very animated about physics in general. He focuses more on methodology than simple memorization of equations.

Entertaining. Can be confusing, after the first lecture on vectors the whole class was confused, but it gets better. You will have to work for the A.

Loads of hw, no help, his focus is on the calculus and he does not really go through the material. Take this class at another school and transfer the credits. It'll be worth it. The risk of failing this class is high and it's so time consuming your other classes will most likely suffer.

Angry man. Bias grading. Way too much homework and very hard tests. Doesn't even flinch when 1/3 of the class keeps getting F on his tests. No xtra cred. Ever... 3 dropped out with a W ( all had GPAs above 3.0) and 4 failed or got a D.

Teaches calc-based physics so, yeh, it is going to be kinda hard but he's a really cool teacher & overall nice guy. Just study, study, study for the exams. His labs are really fun though!

He's alright, but very unclear and not very helpful when you have questions in lab. Doesn't explain pre-lab very well.
