Comment:
This class wasn't too bad, just probably harder than a sociology class should be. However, getting about a 75% test average is in the A range. Hansell was a really nice guy and made the lectures pretty entertaining, but the info you need to know for tests are basically a compilation of medical fun facts and the class is just lots of cold memorizing

Prof Hansell is hilarious and makes his lectures interesting, even if some of the material is a little dry. Exams are based on lectures and the textbook (which covers different material). MC exam, no trick questions. You have to put in the work for an A, but overall not a difficult course if you go to class and do the reading.

Hands down the best lectures I've had at Rutgers. Exams are hard but the class was so informative and Prof hansell is an amazing professor and makes the lecture as more of a story than anything.

While he is a cool guy and animated during lecture, he only grades you on 3 exams. His tests are NOT easy, super tricky. Tests on material from lectures and the book. Not an easy class. You need to know lectures and textbook inside and out. Generous curve but I would avoid if you're not a good test taker.

Prof. Hansell is an amazing teacher and extremely funny. There are 3 exams, no final. However, you must read the book to do good as he doesn't cover the book chapters in class. Be ready to take notes. Heavy curve at the end.

He truly cares about the material he teaches and likes to make jokes. In order to do well in his class you MUST study by reviewing your notes that you take on lectures and the assigned textbook chapters. 3 exams total, each containing 20 questions from his lecture and 20 questions from the book. Test questions get specific so outline the chapters.

If you show up to class, listen, and do the reading you will have no problem getting and A or B. There are three exams that are 40 questions each. Each exam half of the questions are from the book and half from the class lecture. The curve is generous unless you happen to fall in the average category. To get a C you only not be the bottom 10%.

83+/120(3x 40 pt exams) was an A this semester. This is NOT an easy A class. Only take if needed and interested in the medical field. He has a generous curve where 30% get As, 30% Bs, 30% Cs, 5% Ds, and 5% Fs. I got an A from being points above the average for every exam. Hansell is a great guy, but the class is too hard for the average student.

I can agree that this class is NOT an easy A. I luckily barely got above average on all the exams and ended with an A by one point. I STUDIED MORE FOR THIS FINAL THAN BIO! But whatever. But yeah, not so easy, take it if you have to.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! real nice guy but his lectures are awful. He rambles on and on and gets off subject easily. Super boring and the tests are impossible. a lot of memorization and the questions are very specific and ambiguous

DONT BE FOOLED!!!!! this professor is a trap!!!! he seems easy and he might have a 4+ rating on rate my professor, but this class is so hard and probably the hardest class you will ever take!! he requires you to read so much in the textbook, then it's straight up memorization during the exam!!! BEWARE do not take him unless you memorize!!!!

Professor Hansell is engaging, comical, and very eager to help his students. I didn't attend lecture much; I found a lot of the materials from lecture and the text to overlap. 3 exams, all 40 ques and none are cumulative. His exam questions are very superficial, if u know your stuff then it's cake. Gracious curve, be slightly above avg for an A.

Sociology of medicine and health care - He has 3 exams, 40 questions each - 20 from lectures and 20 from the book. If you don't attend class, you're going to fail. A lot of the questions from his exams come from his lectures that aren't covered on the slides he provides. He curves A LOT and he's passionate and friendly about the course.

Prof Hansell makes class really fun and interesting. The exams are difficult but the curve is SUPER generous. You definitely need to read the textbook, half of the exam questions are from there. You also need to go class because his slides have no details on them. Your grade is based on 3 exams, just be a bit above the average and you'll get an A

Hansell is extremely engaging and made a morning lecture interesting. You HAVE to read the book and attend lectures to do well. The exams are a bit ridiculously detailed, but the curve is great. There are 3 exams that have 40 questions each. 78+ was an A this semester.

Course grade is based on 3 exams. You NEED to read the book and attended all lectures to pass. Personally I found this class to be hard b/c the exams' answer choices are similar to one another and they are ambiguous. You can walk out thinking you aced the exam, but find out that you failed it. Curve is generous. Don't take unless needed.

one of the easiest classes ive taken at rutgers so far. Professor hansell was one of the best because of his lectures-which are very interesting. The exams themselves were not hard at all because most of it comes from the book and lectures!

Hansell's expectations are ridiculous even though the grade is based on three multiple choice exams. Exams are essentially playing a game of trivia expecting you to remember the most insignificant, worthless facts. He'll put extreme emphasis on certain facts only to wind up being omitted on the exam. No clear exam outline or guideline is given.

He is an amazing professor, the class is easy BUT only if you go to every class and at least skim through the book you will probably get an A or B.
