I was not looking forward to taking research methods, however Dr. Lindsay made it my favourite class this semester. He gives great examples, offers bonus marks for those who are willing to put in a little effort, and cracks some good dad jokes. The labs were very organized and useful for my other classes.

PSYC201 is not a very exciting class, but Dr Lindsay is a great professor who will help you appreciate this course more. He has an awesome sense of humor and explains concepts multiple times until you get them. His exams are fair, but the way questions are worded can sometimes be confusing. The online textbook we used was free which was nice.

Dr. Lindsay is incredibly interested in his area of study, which makes classes a lot more interesting despite the dry material. He does a quiz before each lecture and if he sees that students are not totally understanding, he goes out of his way to further explain. Funny guy with a positive attitude... would take a class with him again.

Participation is 100% in this class. I was a complete idiot and never went to class because I self-learn. Unfortunately, he structures his exams intentionally to be very hard to adjust for the fact that you can get like 5% bonus marks for free and the lab is brain-dead easy. Basically, his class is a super easy A if you attend and a D if you don't.

Despite other reviews, Dr. Lindsay is awesome. He uses a lot of metaphors to elaborate on concepts (which are pretty simple). All the resources to do well in this class are explicitly given to students so if you don't do well it's kind of on you. Show up to class, don't get behind on reading and you'll do great.

Definitely not a fun class. The prof is nice and tries to keep the class engaged, but the material explained in class is only a very very tiny fraction of what is covered on the test. Must teach yourself and learn all the key terms from the textbook.

Research Methods is bland, boring and difficult but Lindsay makes it bearable. He manages to make class interesting and humorous (lots of under the breath jokes). His test are generally fair, he does not want to trick you, but they are not easy. There are lots of chances to do well with how the percentages of assignments are weighed. Great guy!

I would suggest to all, to not take this class. I was disappointed, tests are way to soon. A lot of material, in a short time. We had to read 7 things for the exam, and most of the material was all to do with what was said in class, which wasn't stated. I'd avoid this professor.

Most of the time I was trying to keep myself awake in lectures. Can get really dry really fast...and confusing. Lectures notes were all over the place and had to teach myself the course. Use online resources for extra aid such as book companion website. Lab was irrelevant to the course, and the final paper was even more irrelevant and confusing.

Steve is brilliant man and a leader in his field of eyewitness memory. This was a seminar course that was very fun but thought provoking at the same time. The course load was HEAVY though. Spent at least 10 hours a week reading primary literature and posting blog posts/studying for quizes. Would recommend though as I had a blast with Lindsay

Most boring lecture I've ever attended, perhaps because of the content. His slides were confusing, and unhelpful. I had to teach myself the information, for he did a poor job at explaining. The lab that corresponded with this class, was so disorganized that I didn't know what they were asking from me.

Most boring lecture to attend, and his notes are all over the place with spelling mistakes and they are just generally unclear. I attended most classes but ended up teaching myself the material from the textbook, was not impressed

One of the easiest prof. you got like 38% of the mark for just attending every class and do the lab assignment(won't take you more then 3min each). if you fail this course, you'll fail every other course in UVic..

Dr. Lindsay is a brilliant scholar. He uses Moodle as a way to get students engaged. Some of the assigned articles were boring, but we had a great deal of fun in class. We actually laughed a lot. Dr. Lindsay is a kind and effective teacher. I would take a class with him again. You should be so lucky to study with him!
