I had Dr. Shiring for online 259. The course consisted of online modules and a quiz for each module. He gives you 2 attempts for every quiz, and 3 attempts for the final. He unlocks everything at the beginning of the coarse for you to work at your own paste. Take your time on all assignments and you will do great. Will defiantly take him again!

I have had Dr. Shiring for four classes so far, I prefer his online because he releases the class at the beginning of the semester so you can work at your own pace. In class I found him to be a bit distracted but overall not too bad of classes.

I took this class online, and was unsure if I was going to like it. I ended up completing the entire course in 4 days. Dr. Shiring was so responsive to my emails and really helped me. He even told me to come into his office hours to hang out if I ever got the chance. Great professor, easy class, and he really cares about his students.

He is one of the nicest professors I have had in the hospitality classes. He really cares about your grade and you as an individual. His class is very interesting though. We don't do much. The whole class is based on his textbook. During class, all we do is go over the review questions for that chapter and he picks which students should do it.

The best professor for Hospitality! If I could take him for all my classes I would. He is hilarious and really cares about you as an individual!Lots of bonus given out and lets the class make decisions that suites him.

Very helpful. Cares about his students. I took his online HRIM 150 course: best decision of my life! And I took his course in the summer too: second best decision of my life!! He compares everything to real life scenarios so you get a better understanding. If I could only take Shiring for the rest of my college career, I absolutely would.

Nicest and best professor ever! Never even opened the text book. Attendance mandatory. No exams. Easy lectures with few notes to take! Didn't collect any homework until the end of the semester, so be sure to do it and keep everything until that point. There is a mandatory mock interview and etiquette dinner that cost $15 each.

Attendance not necessary and few people ever went to class. You have an entire semester to make a business plan and a presentation about it. Always available to answer any questions. It's a lot of work, but if you start it at the beginning of the semester, it isn't bad.

Great guy. Always willing to help you. Dynamite lectures and he distributes a study guide for his students for each lecture. Tests are hard but he always includes projects, papers, and extra credit if you push him. Highly recommend.
