Dr. Smith is a tough grader, but his lectures make up for it. Don't go into the class expecting to get an A, but if you make a good effort and he sees that, he will try to help you. His way of thinking changed the way I look at literature in all of my other English classes. Great professor, great class!

Dr. Smith is an exceptional professor; entertaining, engaging, and funny. He loves the books he teaches, and insists you write well. His quizzes are more difficult than Dr. Jackson's. After the class, I noticed a significant improvement in my reading and writing. Forget about the grade, and learn from the best.

Good professor. Always looked forward to coming to class even if I didn't read as thoroughly as I should have. Lecture's were the most interesting part. With papers you will be graded hard but he allows rewrites and you get better!

I really like Dr. Smith as a person, however as a professor...not so much. He always seemed far too busy to assist me. I went to office hours prepared only to have him basically shrug me off.

You will love the class. Metaphors and analogies make the material engaging and clear. Class is fun and becomes more so with your interest in the subject. 50 minutes do not drag. Rich personality, loves the works he teaches.

Dr. Smith is an amazing teacher with an inspiring passion for literature. In his class you will learn so much about history's great novels, and you will become a really good writer. However, his is very difficult and the knowledge he will give you will come at the cost of your GPA.

Fascinating to listen to. He sees so much I most people don't in the literature we read. Very enthusiastic/entertaining. He's always quoting Dante and especially Shakespeare. Loved his class. Am taking trying to get him next semester.

Unrivaled! He draws you in because in spite of our typical laissez-faire attitude as students, one cannot help loving poetry and the literary classics because he does so much and communicates their worth, their heart to the entire class...TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!

Dr. Smith is the most inspiring prof I have met. He actually instilled in me an appreciation for poetry. He and I spent a lot of time over my horrible paper writing skills and he effectively taught me to write. Great prof, great teacher, great person.
