I've done tons of research on tech comm and none of his lectures related to any of it. It's really annoying learning material when you have no idea why it matters. It's even worse when he asks you questions you have no way of annoying. The client projects were the worst part. If you have social anxiety, you will be nervous and mad all the time.

If you're about to take this class, get out now. you don't need to read this just go! if you're stuck in this class, buckle your seat belts boys and girls cause you're in for the most confusing ride of your life. He explains assignments so vaguely so you never really know what you're doing. good luck w/ trying to figure out you're grade. good luck

Absolutely horrible. Does not use Canvas, instead uses a Wiki page to upload all material. Takes forever to email back. Gives busy work that has nothing to do with the class. Grades everything last minute. Unprofessional and definitely the worst teacher I've ever had, steer clear of this man, you will not learn anything.

This guy is nuts. Literally never explains work. Doesn't use the university wide technology. Also doesn't grade a thing until the end. Swears in class and basically just trys to relate to the jocks in class. So much unneeded work. A TOTAL JOKE DO NOT TAKE NO MATTER WHAT

He stopped grading assignments after two weeks and didn't explain his assignments well. Not a very good communicator.

Not a bad guy but he is so confusing! Took his WRTG 324 online class and felt really lost and I know my classmates did as well. He doesn't grade anything until the very end so you have no idea where you stand. Overall I was happy when the class finally ended :(

This guy is really nice and caring. Do not hesitate to come to him for questions. His lectures are a bit long but he does a good job on explaining what to do for his papers.

He's a very nice guy and obviously very intelligent, but this was one of the most confusing classes I've ever taken. Stick through it, everyone in the class will be as confused as you are. You won't know your grade at all and everything is turned in at the end of the semester.

He's nice: TRUE. Confused every single day?: TRUE. All he asks if for you to try, write down what is going on in your head. He does not respond to emails and does not use Canvas. Everything is turned in at the end of the semester.I did not buy the textbook for both classes. Bring a tape recorder! Record everything he says! You won't know your grade

As a spring writing class the homework was understandably crammed to fit a full course in half the time. Other than that he seems like a decent human being. If it matters to you he is somewhat liberal politically which does come across in the course. Be warned you may be able to choose a broad topic but he has a heavy had in the guidance of it.

Where to begin? Steve is a great guy, and truly passionate about his topic. However, he uses obscure language, his entire life is a tangent, and you'll never really know where you stand until the final portfolio. On the bright side, he's also pretty funny and will typically reward effort, even if you feel like you have no clue.

His lectures are slightly ambiguous and the class is really hard - but that's the point. He is ambiguous at times because that's how the real world works, if he just gave out the answers, students would never learn. He only accepts students' best work, and always pushes them. He's always available after hours to help, even on the weekend if needed.

Benninghoff is a really great guy, but not a good teacher. There is no rubric, structure or idea of grades throughout the semester. He is random and will spend entire class periods talking about things we've already discussed. Repetition is so frequent that you would think it would all start to make sense after awhile, it doesn't. Very theoretical.

Run for your life and stay far away unless you like to leave confused every single day. You never will know your grade and don't bother asking he won't tell you. The work load wasn't bad it was just tedious and I felt like I learned nothing. Don't ask questions or participate in class either because you're always wrong unless you are just like him.

This class is really bad. He doesn't explain things at all and get's annoyed when people ask questions he will answer with questions too. You do your assignments with high levels of insecurity and I feel like everything we do is busywork or the same thing over and over. How can we improve if we don't know what to do. He also talks in circles.

Vague doesn't begin to describe him. Nice enough man, but he provides no due dates, assignment guidelines, or even rubrics. Doesn't grade anything until the semester is over, so you have no way of gauging how you're doing. He says "figuring it out on your own" is a valuable skill, but he takes that too far.

Good Luck. Just when you think things are going well, you have to redo everything you thought you had learned. Took the first 8 weeks to write and introduction memo. The syllabus is useless. You get no grade or feedback on the things that you have done in/for class. If you are a Writing major, change now.

Disorganized and unclear. It felt like we did the same assignments all semester. We had 5 due on one day once. Nice guy, but ended up defending his teaching style more than answering questions. Left a lot to be desired.
