Steve is a wonderful professor. He is passionate, humble and helpful. He takes a unique approach to teaching the course in that the students play an active role in teaching the class, choosing readings and films. I read less than I should have and still got a B+. The one downside was the group work, which was throughout the entire semester.

Dr. Carr is the most supportive professor. He is extremely knowledgeable in his area of expertise and will try to accommodate everyone's perspectives. His downfall are his many commitments on campus. As the graduate director, blackboard fellow, and chair on nearly every COM committee, he gets extremely behind on grading.

He didn't really do a lot of lecturing. He pretty much just asked questions to the class and then had everyone debate. He's not terrible, but I won't be taking another class with him.

Teacher defiantly knows what he is talking and or teaching about. Downside: A LOT of reading, although he says the reading is around 30 pages, its 2 pages on one paper, so it's really a 60 page reading almost every week, lot of time spent for this class. Always getting out late, which is a struggle to get to the next class on time. You do learn fro

Great teacher, and his style is pretty good as well. I just didn't like the readings, they were a pain to get through most weeks. Thankfully the quizzes were fairly easy for the most part or could be guessed on and still manage at least 6/10 to retake it. The class is deffinetly a lot of work.

Carr says umm and uhh a lot in his class which can be distracting. You don't really learn much because many of the classes are simply a debate among the students not a lecture from Carr.

Very interesting way to teach this material. Dr. Carr is great and a true scholar, but the course leaves some things to be desired, like timliness, and opportunities for discussion. I also think that the text often need to be supplemented by lecture which was not given. I would definitely recommend Dr. Carr to anyone interested in COM at IPFW.
