friendly guy, but needs to spend more time taking about textbook, not about his life and view of the world. he comes to class late all the time and spends class time looking for stuff in his office..too much hopping around the chapters during lectures, starts and never finish. He is fair with the grading and tests are straight from study guide

Comment:

Although I did learn a lot in this class, most of it was from the reading. Coons likes to skip all over the place when lecturing. He starts on one chapter, never finish, and then all of a sudden skip three chapters ahead the next day. Half of the time he talks about stuff unrelated to the class. He does tell you exactly what's on his tests though.

Dont take his class. he's a really nice guy, but he lectured on 1 chapter from 1 book the entire semester but expected us to know all 4 of the text books by heart when it came to test day. i got a C- as my highest grade on a test but somehow got a B in the class. again he's a really nice guy and knows his stuff but he just talks he doesnt teach.

Really nice guy, so-so professor. Coons is a smart guy and knows his stuff, but rarely sticks to the syllabus schedule. He told us to read the chapter on Japan and discuss it for the next class. Next class comes and he talks about Venezuela instead. He does do an excellent job at reviewing his students for his tests though.

I absolutley love this teacher, he is very passionate about the subject. I have learned more in this class about Black history than I have ever learned in all of my years of schooling in History. I just love to sit back and listen to his lectures. I still have all notes for his class and will refer back to these for years to come. EXCELLENT PROFESS

Aweful!! Never kept on track, lectured on 1 one chapter throughout the whole semester and expected us to know all four text books. He included too many of his own opinions and lectured more on his personal life than the subject at hand. Loves to listen to himself talk and does not allow anybody else to speak.

Very passionate about the subject. Cares about giving us something we will take with us. Came in half a semester late, but it made the class easier in the end. I learned more from this class than most. A very important subject and the right guy to teach it.

Easy A. But if you're a Poli Sci major, he's an awful teacher. I didn't really learn anything from him, it was more like I taught myself through the book and the essay you have to write. Very boring man, gets off topic all the time. Basically, if you need the A for your transcript, do it. Just be prepared.

Wow. I've taken a lot of classes and this has to be the worst one day a week class of all time. Lecture: political jargon is spewed with little clarity. Movies: typical poli sci. HW: none. Tests: you must study to pass, he gives a lot of the answers but if you don't read/study, you will draw a blank on the exams. Gradings: Generous.

Coons is a very cool guy, extremely passionate about the subject. I'd say this class was an easy A as long as you study the book. He goes over the final before you take it, so write down the answers as you go along. Even though I missed several classes, he was cool enough to let me stay. I would recommend him, no HW and only a few major tests.

HORRIBLE TEACHER! Always late to class. Blabs on things un-related to the class. Hardly use our textbooks even tho the midterm/final is based on it (the study guide is like 2 past edns old!). Very disorganized and unprepared with assignments/tests on time. Lighter note: his assignments are easy tho, just do your own studying at home.

Worst teacher I have EVER had! Hardly uses the book-goes on useless tangents-if you are taking a pm class-bring a sweater-he's always late-doesn't go by the syllabus-in class you can use your laptop-to play solitaire-that's how most people got thru his class. Up your text messaging on your cell plan-you'd rather text than to listen to him!!!

The class itself is easy, mostly because since he gives us the study giude you dont really need to be in class. But since he missed the first four meetings, alot of stuff got messed up (lost grades, new material, and more talking about himself then teaching the calss) so as long as he doesnt miss classes, the class is generally easy.

Cool teacher-He was very interesting and carring-Had many stories-Accationaly went off subject- which would push the tests back (a good thing!). Also a few field trips-This guy is fun!
