Comment:

Dr. Jacobs is one of the best professors in the department. I learned more in ECE1472 than any other single class I've taken. But, it didn't feel worth it. Homework regularly took 10 - 20 hours a week. This class dominated my life for the semester and took a toll on my mental health. ECE1472 was an experience, but not one that I'd like to repeat.

Comment:

Dr. Jacobs is very helpful and knows his stuff. I had him sophomore year for Digital Logic. It was a tough class at times but Jacobs knew how to convey the information. Also, he has pop quizzes which tested knowledge and made exams easier. I later had him as my senior design advisor. Great all around, study and ask questions and all is good.

The best teacher I have had at the University of Pittsburgh. I wish I could have him for every class. It is a lot of work but I do not think I will ever forget the material we learned in his class. Highly recommend taking his classes.

best teacher i have ever had. he presents the material in a overly organized manner, and is always available if you need help. he generally wants his students to learn the material. but like what most other people said, he is very hard and you will probably spend most of your semester doing work for his class. i would recommend him though

Yes he is tough and yes he is not the professor for an easy A. You will learn a lot but if you are not in love with the subject material he is teaching I wouldn't recommend him. Especially since engineering in general will have you do a lot of work and I don't see the point in doing a 5 credit class level of work for a 3 credit class.

BOY is this DOC hard. He overwhelms u with work, u finish the semester like if u were running a 100 mile marathon. BUT u?ll learn a great deal. He is more than an excellent teacher. Very clear & well organized lectures, he knows his stuff. If u are willing to put A LOT of effort, take his class. Exams are no fun at all though

Excellent professor. Knows how to explain difficult concepts in a way that people can understand. Likes to help. Always makes time for you in office hours. Exams are literally impossible. Too long. He does curve, but man, you have to dedicate your entire life to his course to do well.

Dr. Jacobs is really organized, clear, and is all about you learning in his class. He is however extremely difficult and goes over the top with the amount of work that he presents you. You will learn a ton in his class but it will deprive you other studies.

Good professor, good guy. I learned more from his class than any class I have ever taken. Be ready for weekends and late nights of homework. Tests are designed to "present you with something you have not seen before"... also known as hard. Although he was difficult, he drives his students to learn as much as possible. Highly recomended.

Class was not too bad. He did give a good amount of homework, it did help though. He was very helpful during office hours. The quizzes can be a little tricky, if you do the homework you should do fine. Exams are difficult, he knows and grades accordingly.

Tests are not impossible if you study. He writes them so you do not finish them so they are a little impossible finish but not to do well on. Very fair. Very helpful and is one of those profs that likes when people go to his office hours. Highly recommended.
