Dr. Jones is the best teacher I have ever had. This class is unbelievably important because Jones helps you examine WHY to teach, which ought to supersede HOW to teach. Dr. Jones helps you question everything, think deeper, and teach in a way that will enlighten your students. Remember, "The unexamined life is not worth living." He's a life-changer

You read 3 books, discuss them, and write a paper over each of them. I didn't really get much from this class. If anything, I learned more about myself because I disagreed with him so much. A lot of the things he says are the classic, "Kids these days ..." kinds of arguments. He complains a lot about millennials and is kind of condescending.

This class was set up like a book club where we just read and then discussed the books. Wrote a 3-5 pg paper over each book. It wasn't bad and Jones is really funny. But sometimes it feels like if you disagree with him, he gets mad. The papers require a lot of critical thinking. Final was a 5 pg reflection that he assigned 2 weeks ahead of time.

This class was incredibly easy. He has one book you're required to read for the block and it's pretty good. His lectures were pretty ranty but they were honest. There a midterm and a final. You're also required to take the MEP which is $22. I would definitely recommend Dr. Jones for EDC150.

Dr. Jones is one of the best professor's at Missouri State. You will read a lot on the philosophy of education, and there will be a lot of discussion, but his insight on education will be a life changer. Everyone can benefit from this class.

Took him for UHC 397 on education in modern society. The class was a book club on mostly philosophy. We would just read for homework then discuss it in class each day. Lectures often get off topic and he can rant on and on. Overall a very knowledgeable professor, however his effectiveness is questionable.

He knows his subject! Very passionate about teaching. Sometimes his lectures felt like they went on forever, but were interesting. Only a mid-term and a final. If you pay attention, take good notes and read some of the book it's a pretty easy A.

This class is "Education and Society". We read "Brave New World", portions of "Plato's Republic", "Amusing Ourselves to Death" among others. It is a book clubphilosophy class. We have not learned how society impacts education. At all. If you want to learn about how socioeconomic status, laws, etc. affect a classroom, take a different professor.

One of the worst teachers in the education department. If you want a teacher that doesn't hand out a syllabus, doesn't explain why he graded you the way he did, and cares more about his opinion than yours then this is the instructor for you. In other words, take someone else and avoid him at all costs!!

DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM. All he does is talk about his 5 years of experience in teaching. He acts like he knows everything about education and he isn't afraid to tell you your opinion is wrong. He is proud to say he gets people to change their mind about being education major all the time. WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD

This guy is the best teacher I have ever had. He inspires me every time I take his class and because of him I know I made the right career choice. Anyone who does not like him as a teacher should not be a teacher themselves. He poses a more philosophical approach in this class. Not how to teach but why? Every future teacher must take his class

This man is an excellent educator. You'll hate him at first, but you'll worship him later. He will challenge every belief you ever had about teaching--you don't have to change them, he just wants you to really know your stuff. I learned more about teaching in this one class than in all of my other classes combined.

Challenging professor and course, totally worth it if you are okay with doing a bit of philosophy. If you're not okay with doing a bit of philosophy, then maybe you should reconsider getting a liberal arts education. Excellent teacher who is tough but fair. Start your reading before class starts.

Provided useful information for those serious about teaching. If you pay attention in class and read the book, easy read, you will do well in the class. Told it like it was, it was a class to help you make your decision to see if you had what it takes to be a teacher.

Dr. Jones is very passionate about Education and it shows in his lectures. He doesn't take attendance. Only work is the midterm, one take-home paper, and the final, which were all pretty easy. Get the books because thats what everything is over and they are actually an interesting read. He did very well with this class and made it enjoyable.

The class was two hours long but his lectures were really interesting and informative so they went by really fast. There is a midterm and final both based on the book and his letures, if you take good notes getting an A won't be a problem.

This is a book club. All you do is read books and then write a paper on them where the highest grade you can get is a 7 but he has only given two his entire teaching career. We did not get to the actual content of the class until the last month! Then we only worked 2 weeks on our main paper for the semester!

Dr. Jones is the most challenging professor I have ever had, but he is probably one of the best. His class is not easy because you have to read, think, and discuss to do well. You have to make an impression on Dr. Jones and it is not easy. Grades are earned. He is a unique and brilliant man. He totally changed my approach to education.
