Comment:

Professor List tries to be helpful, but it was still difficult to understand and I really struggled in this class. He has been teaching for 30 years, and he uses statistics and materials that is very old. His syllabus is handwritten and photocopied. But he uses a lower grading scale (88 is an A) which helped me pass this class.

Comment:

Very nice guy and easy to get along with. Extremely helpful, and will help you out as much as he can if you are concerned about your grade. Gives bonus quizzes and curves exam grades. The class is difficult, but if you do the homework and put in time then you will do fine.

Comment:

I've had him many times (Right now I am in Calc II, but I have also had him for 236 and 256). Very nice, and always willing to help. Does a lot of example problems and wants everyone to understand. Also, tries to make sure everyone gets enough time to take tests/quizzes when he can. He also tells great stories! My favorite math teacher so far!

Great teacher! very clear about what he expects you to know and test questions are almost identical to examples he gives in class for review. doesnt try to trick you. has recommended problems to do, do them! whole class is very straight forward and should come easy to college students who are not lazy and actually try. would def take him again!

He has a dry witty sense of humor so I really enjoyed his lectures. He's pretty straight forward about the material and is very helpful if you are confused. The tests are kinda hard but only because no one can be a statistical genius but if you do the homework, attend class and do the reviews you should score well no problem.

Have him for calc 3, and he is awesome. Very funny, and is really helpful. Does do a few practice problems to take home but bases tests off of some of those, so I would suggest doing them.

I hate math, and I still got an A. I had an emergency the day of an exam, and he let me take it a different day- good guy. No homework, just gives "suggested" problems to practice with. Do the suggested problems. He takes a lot of his test and quiz material right from those or lecture examples. He also tells you what ?'s to expect on tests.

He's an amazing prof, but really hard. His lectures are always interesting and go by fast. KNOW the material and always be asking questions or the tests will seem almost impossible. Highly recommend taking him at least once while at River Falls.

List was my advisor and I took 4 classes with him. He is by far one of the best teachers in the Math department. His classes are also the hardest. If you enroll in his class and do the work you will do fine. He will teach you things that you will remember.

Excellent teacher, the book is easy to understand after his lecture. Very willing to help if your having difficulty. Skilled at getting the students to do the work necessary to learn(unfortunately?), but will give you extra credit if you are worried about your grade.

I took Calculus 2 in high school and got an A, but in List's class, I'm struggling to pass. I usually understand math and I did understand the homework, but his exams are nearly impossible. He tries to trick you on the exams. I was always in his office hours and I understood everything crystal clear, but the tricks always got me.
