Comment:
Syllabus makes no sense. Instructions and syllabus contradict one another numerous times. Instructions are very unclear. Several simple spelling and grammatical errors in the syllabus. Basically, if you're taking this class you should rely on pure luck. Tip: Find another student in the class to vent to, otherwise you'll think you're insane.

Dr. Marson will tell you at the beginning of class that he is the best professor, and then he proves it. The Social Research class has been difficult but I really feel like I've learned a lot. Do the work and it's an easy A. I hope to take one of his classes again.

Comment:
Dr. Marson is very demanding and is not afraid to let you know when you're doing something wrong or right. The majority of the work ( research) will be done in the first half of the semester and the rest is reading and submitting notes to him which must be on point. There are no tests or blackboard discussion groups for this class.

Dr. Marson is actually an awesome instructor and had I utilized his help from the beginning of the semester, my final grade would have been different. His help is there if you learn to ask for it. He is easy to talk to and requires your papers to be ON POINT. He is fair. Any question you have, ask him. The syllabus can be hard to understand.

Loves to lecture and goes completely off tangent but his side conversations are helpful for his tests. Listen, take notes, and make sure to READ your textbook for his tests. Reading the textbook can be the difference in you making a D or a AB. The book report can be a hassle but it is very simple as long as you write it on time. Use syllabus!

He is a pretty good teacher. Make sure you pay attention to his lectures and take notes because he will use them as essay questions for quizzes and the final exam. Also, make sure you check his site regularly. He is helpful and encourages students to engage in his lectures and ask questions. Do not procrastinate on the book report either! :)

Dr. Marson is a VERY hard teacher. His teachings are very unclear and disorganized. He has an odd fancy with black people. He isn't very helpful when you have questions and he has very high expectations.

He's a good teacher. His test are all on blackboard. The only problem with that is nobody studies so everyone crammed for the final. Be prepared for offensive statements if you belong to a minority group.

Dr. Marson is cool he just seemed easily distracted. He also was not really clear on things we were discussing he doesn't breakdown many of the key concepts. Also thought he was VERY bias towards black females. Thought that was completely unfair. Man thinks black ppl are the only minority I promise.

I had Dr. Marson for many of my social work classes. Yes, you had to work hard to get A's. But he really cares for his students. It has been over 10 years since I graduated with my BSW, and he still is a huge support for me professionally and as I pursue my PhD. If you love social work he is one professor to get to know.

I had him for statistics and research in 1999. You HAVE to do the work to do well in his class. If you are looking for an easy A, he is not the one for you. I got B's in both classes but I can't say I worked hard enough to get an A either. Marson and UNCP's BSW program really prepare you for the MSW program. Grad school was easy in comparison.

I have had Dr. Marson for most of my social work classes and I think he is a great professor! Once you get his teaching style down and realize that he is not as difficult as he wants you to think he is he is really just a big mush. He does everything he can to help his students, you just have to ask for help. He has opened my eyes to so many social concepts and thats what it should be all about! Dr. Marson is one of the few professors in this department that I truely respect.

Dr. Marson expects to much from his students. He thinks his class is the only one a student may have. The assignments he assigns are by far the most I have in one class.

Dr. Marson can skip from topic to topic and his ideas aren't very clear after a time. Overall, he's a decent professor.
