He keeps lecture interesting with his random remarks and sarcasm. Tests are based on lecture, but his lecture is just free talking and it is difficult to determine important pieces of information. At first I didn't think I was learning anything, and then it turned out I had learned a lot from him.

He's a very intriguing professor. He'll help you if you need it. Everything on the tests are from the lecture so pay attention. If you don't understand something, he will always work to make sure you understand it. In lab he's also extremely helpful. Favorite professor at Calvin so far.

I love Steve! He's so great. Lab with him was the most fun and relaxed lab I have ever had at Calvin. Steve has high expectations - so work hard to pay attention in lecture, read the text, and use his study guides that he posts online.

I had Steve for lab and loved him! Everything is really relaxed (he let's students brings their ipods in and play music), and yet he's still very clear and competent. Highly recommended!

his lectures are so hard to take notes on, he spends forever giving illustrations for things we already understand and then goes through the hard stuff really fast. likes to hear himself talk and makes jokes that aren't funny. but you have to give him credit for trying and he's a really nice guy.
