I've taken Steve for two classes and hope to at least get one more with him before I graduate. Although he does have a tendency to drift off topic in his classes, his primary focus is always on providing the best feedback and support for his students. He's the kind of professor that makes you excited to get up and go to class.

Steve is a wonderful professor who genuinely cares about his students. He is opinionated and hilarious, and also prone to more than a bit of a potty mouth. Even with that, there is a disconnect between the stereotype of a "swearing professor" and this gentle, artistic soul (who happens to tell hilarious jokes ribbing on his own ethnic background).

An awesome professor who is 110% invested in the class. He doesn't teach straight out of the book, instead he gives you additional material that really immerses you in the teachings.

Incredible professor who cares more about students than any other teacher I've encountered. Was able to take tons of valuable information away from his course that's applicable to real life. Overall made me a better person and cannot encourage others enough to take one of his courses to experience his insightful teaching style.

He is a wonderful professor. I never liked poetry much, but he made me way more interested, and I actually liked the poems I wrote for his class. He teaches class like a workshop, which is extremely helpful. No boundaries on writing.

Steve was hands down one of my favorite professors at the Fort. I have never met a creative writing teacher who was so willing to accept material that wasn't the standard short story or poem. Being able to play with my love for comics and graphic novels and actually get credit for it was wonderful in itself, to say nothing of the rest of the class.

Steve Meyers is a thoughtful and talented professor who inspires the best in his students. His ability to foster his students' talent is evident in his focus on each individual student and their growth as a writer. Although Steve is an accomplished poet, he doesn't require students to meet his standards and he doesn't teach from books.

Better than any professor I have known, Steve embodies qualities of every great writing teacher: acceptance and praise of ANY original material by authors, never failing to give honest critiques that provide individuals with strengths, faults, and further possibilities for their written work. The result is a true, adventurous community of writers.

Even students who agreed on nohing else felt that he is a magical teacher and gave us the best class ever! He is gifted at finding hidden talent. He did an incredible job acting as a shepherd, creating an atmosphere of trust and respect. No better mentor would have done more to encourage me. I am grateful to have worked with him.
