A tough class but if you're willing to put in the work and manage your time, you can succeed in this class. An ability to write essays is vital as most of your grade depends on it. A definite must-take if you enjoy World War II!

DO NOT TAKE Dr. Stein for an online course. online courses are for people with busy schedules, but Dr. Stein does not seem to realize this. He expects people to post in online discussions upwards of five times per week. Plus midterm, final, book review, and final paper. Follow his instructions to a T and he will still grade too hard. I took Dr. Stein for an online UD course focused on WWII.I absolutely loved it.Yes, it was challenging, and there were a ton of papers and writing, but I learned a lot more that way.He was always very helpful. He stood out from other online teachers because he participated in the online lectures. You could really tell he was passionate about WWII.

took online class in the summer from june-aug. he graded way to hard on his assignments and he had way too many papers for a history course. he expected us to get online multiple times a week to post on discussions when people take online classes for flexibility. i passed but i never figured out how to get a great grade on anything.

Professor Stein is a good teacher. I never went to class and I still got a B. He puts all the people that are on the tests on his website and you just have to know a paragraph about each one. Don't wait til the last minute to study and you will do fine.

Dr. Stein is awesome. He is absolutely hilarious and very clear about what he wants from students. This class was a lot of fun usually. Don't take an auditorium class with him. He won't tell people to shut up.

He is a good teacher. I rarely went to class and still pulled B's on the essay form tests. He has online powerpoints and other materials to help you. There are 3 tests, one paper and online discussions and quizzes weekly. He gives credit if you sound like you remember the jist of what was said in the notes/book/lecture.

Doesn't prepare much for class. Lectures outline text; videos repeat lectures. Almost no discussion unless u r into war-gaming. Could have gotten the same from just reading the books on my own. Take-home exams & paper time-consuming, not difficult. Read EVERYTHING before midterm, read almost nothing before final; got a better grade on the final.

He talks a lot and sometimes gets off subject but his tests are from his notes. The tests are in essay form but he normally gives credit if you half way sound like you remember the facts.

He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. His lectures are packed with information, so you better pay attention in class. Do NOT try to nap or daydream! He's tough, but reasonable. If you work hard, you will do well. A great lecturer who knows his stuff inside and out.

All I can say is BLAH. He rambles and can be kinda arrogant at times, but I've had worse teachers. He grades kinda easy on somethings, but hard on others. Overall just mediocre and classroom environment is excellent for sleep (boring), but he's a nice guy and will help you if you ask.
