He really stepped up his game after the midterm, spending more time going over examples with class. This really helped for prepping for the final exam. His exams are incredibly long, so don't be surprised when you look up and notice the majority of the class is still there till the bitter end. Practice the math for the exams or you'll probably fail

visual learners be aware, he & book just verbally explain, little examples. If you ask for help he tells you "google it". Not best teacher but he is fair IF you understand the material. DON'T buy the book! book sucks. assignments tests, study them! material is mostly theoretical.

He is easy to understand and likes to know that his students understand. I didn't take notes in his class but did his assignments and read the slides on moodle. The text was not helpful but found use of it for Math 2000 and other classes.

The class is from okay to good. Covers multiple areas. Mostly math, easy to follow. While some areas you need to study for. Topics covered in this class help in the later class taken.

This is the first time I've ever had to drop a class. The exams are very math theory based, but you'll be lucky to be given more than one example throughout the course. If you ask for supplementary questions to practice and study with, his answer will be "no". He's a nice person, I just don't think the course is well structured for learning.

Project was a waste of time...Had no control over students...Slides were constantly wrong.....Even through all of this I still learned through doing and he's still a nice guy. Just kind of a lazy professor.

Easy GPA booster with Comp Sci 1000 with this guy! His classes are pretty dry, especially the first couple of weeks. Some of the stuff you do in the labs is kind of annoying, but if you regularily use computers, it's a breeze with just a little bit of extra work. Use the textbook for binary and stuff like that and a free A is a comin'!!

Such a nerd! He gets so excited over the funniest things lol. Anyway, this is defs a GPA booster. If you've ever used Microsoft Office Products at ALL the labs are a breeze and easy marks. His quizzes are easy if you pay attention. Definitely a good GPA booster for first year GLERS :)

Such a nerd, classes are pretty dry. However, easy class and a good GPA booster. Quizzes are really easy if you pay attention in class, rarely used the textbook. Hardest part is doing binary and base 4, 6, hexadecimal and all that, but USE THE TEXTBOOK FOR THAT PART! He doesn't do a good job at explaining that bit.

easy class, the slides are word for word from the text but he does skip parts of the text so going to class is helpful. Some of the written assignments are marked dumb and guidlines are not outline. He actually wants you to do research if you want to get and A on the paper, though he does not tell you this up front.

He has an amusing sense of humor, although he is clearly a nerd. Gets excited about certain topics really easily, and will go on about them forever. Lectures are straight from the text so if you miss one, just read the text. Plays lots of little videos, and will quiz you on them. Overall an easy A.

Excellent professor. Knows his stuff and can explain it very well. Despite this, the course is difficult. Very math orientated and requires some studying to fully understand. Seriously, study for the midterm and know the material well because it takes 50 minutes to write which so happens to be the length of time you are given.

Welcome to CS. 3710 is a graphics course. Into OpenGL isn't very complicated and is all about math. Hence, there is a lot of math in this course. The math is clearly explained (HS Trig). Steve is awesome and very approachable. He knows the material solidly and is willing to explain anything. Study for the exams. Freebie 10 point project.Great CS.

Great class. To all the whiners that are crying about how tough 3710 was, grow up! I'm "sorry" that your dream of being a video game programmer is over now. He stated very clearly at the start of the course that it was a bit difficult and the course involved a good amount of math. How can you do CG without math?!?

He sucks, go to his office for solving a problem other than what he gave in class, you 'll make him do everything but answer your question. Avoid taking classes with him.

Steven is very "math oriented" which gave me some problems. Im sure the final is going to be death. He is however very clear and very proffesional, hes got the waiting for people to copy notes down to a mastery. Class is good but prepare to work.

thats what happens when you let a math prof teach programming course. you end up studying more maths and less computer programming.

his exams suck big time. most of the questions are the once which he has't taught. he ll give u formula in lecture and expects to understand everything by yourself and it ll be worth 15% of your course.he might be good with maths stuff but with openGl programming he has no clue.think 2cebfrtakin3710

By far the best teacher I've met. He is very knowledgable and his lectures are very clear. A lot of people wonder why he's staying at this university, as he seems to deserve a tenure at MIT. Internationally renowned researcher.
