Do these other students expect accounting lectures to be entertaining? Yeah, accounting is pretty dry, but I did learn a lot in this class. Took ACC9112 as a NON accounting major and wow, it was hard. I did manage to get an A but did nothing but study for this class for several weekends. If you do ALL the homework you'll do fine on the exams.

prof. Lilien is a very nice person. His lectures can be quite boring, beware though, he'll only test you on the things he covers in class, you dont have to read the whole chapter. So make an effort to pay attention to the things he goes over. Only 3 tests. The first 2 were quite easy, it was mainly written questions. The final is MC, is comprehensi

The absolute most boring lecturer I ever have taken. If you want to learn the full Advanced Accounting curriculum don't take him. We did not go over non-profits and partnerships. Only upside is that his tests are relatively easy as long as you read the book and do the homework. Self-Study class for sure.

The prof is nice and caring while the class can be really confusing sometime. If you are able to learn by yourself, this may be a good choice as this prof has relatively easy exams.

This professor is just a mess. You have to email him AT LEAST 3 times for him to get a reply. Tells you to buy his accounting book that covers EVERYTHING about accounting in just a single textbook and a practice book and it cost over $100. The book is crappy and so are his lecture. This guy is in Baruch to make money before he retires .

The worst professor I met in Baruch. I came to MS accounting program without accounting background and his class made me more confuse. Most time he just read Power Point Slides. Two exams has some questions as same as previous semesters' exams. unfortunately you can not avoid him because he is the only one teach ACC9112 so far.

Overall Lilien is a decent professor. Read the green book a few times and understand the concepts. As for the midterms, know how to answer all the questions in the blue book. He will ask some of them, but adds in a little twist. The final wasn't as hard as everyone claims. Since the final was comprehensive, some of the questions came from midterms.

9112 is not for the faint of heart. Get ready to teach yourself. I just finished taking this course, so I have not yet received the grade. I already know I did not pass. This is not only because you have to TEACH yourself the material, you then have to remember several chapters (5-6) worth of countless theories and applications for the exams.

This class usually has over 80 people in there so GET THERE ON TIME. He doesn't speak too loudly except for his random yells "HOWEVER!" so if you sit too far, you might as well just go home and read for yourself. Class isn't impossible but you definitely have to do the work. You'd be surprised how many HW questions are on the test.

"This is being taught well" No, its not. Not an interesting teacher, though I will admit accounting is a self taught thing. Also, he is disrespectful to his students. First two tests are good if you study from his textbook, project is easy, just put in some effort, but beware the final. Honestly the most difficult final exam I have ever had.

Do the HW because it's great practice for the exam. Exam is very similar to examples in class and HW from the book. There are no surprises on the exam. The book is easy to read. He explains well. There are 2 midterms, 1 final, 1 group project, and online hw at the end of the semester which he doesn't grade but you have to complete.

DO THE HW AND READ THE BOOK. THIS IS MAINLY A SELF-STUDY CLASS, WORK HARD ITS POSSIBLE TO GET A GOOD GRADE, midterms are not mc but long problems with partial credit, you definately need to do know what you are doing but possible to get a good grade

Do the hw he assigns and you will do well on his exams. Coming to his class is pointless, he's confusing and most of the time reads from the book and does hw in class - waste. Book is helpful. Overall, a lousy lecturer but it's not hard to do well on his exams if you do the hw.

Fair professor. Tests are manageable if you take the time to do homework. However, coming to class is basically pointless because he is very confusing and you will still spend hours reading the book. He stops taking attendance after the first month or so. If you can do the HW he assigns (the book is good, isn't too hard) you can pass this class.
