He goes off topic but he makes the class fun. In the beginning of the semester I was confused on how to take notes, but I caught on to write down the page numbers he references and his explanation of the reading. I did not read any of the books just used spark notes and got an A. Expect A LOT of discussion posts and two tests. Go to class!

Dr. Engel has been very helpful throughout my freshman year. He helped me a lot with becoming acclimated to Georgia Southern and becoming involved. HIs FYE class requires you to think critically, but I enjoyed the material we learned about. Each week for 1220 there are two 150 word responses due and in 1410 it goes down to once a week.

I honestly think I disliked the material so much that I hated the class. He's slow at giving work back, and if you're an English major, be prepared to bite the bullet because he often misspells words and makes odd abbreviations. Laugh at his jokes: he'll like you.

Dr. Engel is very cool, but he managed to make orientation way too difficult. I wouldn't suggest him for that particular class, although he is hilarious one on one. Still, orientation shouldn't require that much work.

Dr. Engel is trully an excellent professor. He has a passion for teaching and is very good at it. He makes his students put into practice the principles that he teaches. He is a true intellectual and is highly knowledgeable on the topics. He makes you write a good bit, but it only helps you to develop.His office door is always open for questions
