Great instructor. Lectures very well and is clearly very knowledgable on what he is teaching. I would recommend going into office hours with HW and practice test Qs. Overall though I would definitely recommend. Definitely go to class and read beforehand though (will take 20 min tops).

He's a great teacher. He is the best "teaching" teacher I've had at Pitt. Truly cares about your performance and grades. The tests are tough, but if you do the homework and understand it all, you'll be fine. He is very clear and I would take him again. Do your reading between classes (about 5-15 pages) because the daily quizzes are based off that.

Honors section. If you're torn between him and Kenkel and you just want an A and aren't taking higher level econ, take Kenkel. If you want to really learn take Husted. 2 TF Q's at the beginning of every class so you have to read the book. Tests are hard and analytical, but so the practice exam and homework and you'll be fine. Funny guy. Passionate

Dr. Husted is the best Economics professor I've ever had at Pitt. Not to be blunt but the man speaks English and he is extremely knowledgeable and clear about the topics. Homeworks and Tests are challenging but he's always in his office if you need extra help with them. He gauges the tests and the way the class is graded based on how well you do.

Prof Husted is very knowledgable in economics and a very intelligent guy. His exams are very difficult, but the material tested is always fair. Not attending class and relying on the textbook will allow you to succeed, to a certain degree.

Decent professor, sometimes can be a little confusing, doesn't really use textbook that much, but you need to read them anyway since he has those quizzes at the beginning of the classes. Strict grader.

Great professor.. probably my favorite at Pitt. He's very realistic about teaching and makes lectures interesting. Exams are tough, but if you can do the readings and go to class, you'll attain the skills you need to do well. I will definitely take him again!

I've taken him before this class and I'll definitely take him again if I can. He's my favorite professor at Pitt for sure! His exams are predictable, but tough. His lectures are actually entertaining and worthwhile if you have even a slight interest in the subject. If he is teaching a course you have to take, TAKE HIM!

Don't freak out about the daily quizzes. They are 2 t/f questions, your lowest 5 are dropped, then it's curved. The exams are tough, but take good notes and you'll be fine. If you're clueless on the homework, ASK HIM. He'll help you. I will take him again if I get the chance.

I really liked him. Don't go crazy doing the book problems because his exams are lecture based. He does not do multiple choice, but loves true and false. Do the readings because there are daily quizzes. Term paper hits you hard at the end of the semester, so prep early. Knowledgable guy, I'll definitely take him again if the opportunity arises.

Took him for Honors Macro, and it sure was a tough class, but worth it. A lot of the lecture doesn't necessarily relate to what the exams will look like, but he provides sample exams to study for that make the tests very simple. Be sure to start on the term paper early, it's a little tough expanding simple economic issues into his required 6 pages

One of the hardest classes I've ever taken! He lectures on material not relevant to grading. He wrote the book for the class and it's horrible. NEVER TAKE A CLASS TAUGHT BY THIS GUY!

I took him for Honors Macro and the class was pretty tough! However, he is very good at clarifying concepts and always open to questions. The lecture can get a little dull if you're not into macro though because almost half of each class was on information not relevant to exams just a discussion of the world. overall- very tough class/nice prof

thinks he's funny...sometimes puts students down when they ask questions by responding with sarcastic answers...hard grader...tests are unfair, have nothing to do with the readings from the book...he makes you read alot but only uses them for his DAILY QUIZZES...horrible teacher...stay away...and theres a term paper

Professor Husted is very knowledgeable and clear in his lectures, keeps the class interesting with relating the material to current events. Pop quizzes everyday so make sure you read, and the tests are all short answer do the optional homework so you can know what to expect on the tests. Husted does show contempt when you ask "unworthy" questions

One of the worst teachers I have ever had! A VERY HARD GRADER!!! It was the most I had ever studied for a test and I still did horribly. A lot of the students were annoying too, asking too many questions that had nothing to do with the course material. NEVER TAKE ANY CLASS TAUGHT BY HIM!!!!!!

You will love going to his lectures even if you hate the material. You hardly do any work for his classes, but when you do write papers he is sort of a tough grader. If you attend regularly and have even the slightesy interest you'll get an A. 2 papers, 1 final - which he gives you a very detailed outline of what you need to know. I give him a A-.

Extremely knowledgeable and interested in his own subject matter. Tough grader, but with PERFECT attendance and an interest in the material, an A is not unlikely. Not for slackers!
