Very difficult class. His lecture doesn't help too much. I have to learn by myself. The exams are even harder than his class. Not recommend.

Every question of his test is from test bank. You just need copy everything on you textbook because its a open book test. You dont need to understand what he teach, just write every question on your book. You class mates wont listen his lecture and just copy test bank then they can get high grades. So it push you copy rather than learn it really

Petra had us do 5 small homework assignments graded on attempt (10%), 1 midterm, a presentation (30%), 1 presentation critique weekly out of 4 (30%). The material isn't bad at all. If you see him in his office about the presentation, he will help you big time. He gives good feed back about the critiques. Best part of this class? NO FINAL EXAM!

Fairly easy class compared to other graduate classes. Besides the 15% midterm. You only have 2 PowerPoint Presentations that you need to present (35%) and a 2 page critique about a classmates presentation every week (35%). Also 5 small homeworks. He is a very smart guy and knows his tax codes, so he will catch you if you say something wrong!

He tries, but honestly he's not the best professor to teach ACCT 101 to someone who is completely new to the material. He gives detailed lectures, but you need to teach yourself how to use the information, or else the homework and tests are impossible. Tests are pretty difficult but he will curve some of them.

Above average tax professor. What puts him above the others is that he doesn't act like this is the only class you are taking (like prof. Katz). Its definitely a challenging class, but trust me it could be worse. (like prof. Katz)

I had to teach myself using the text book as he taught off power point the entire semester and when the class asked a few questions regarding the details on the power point, he said he didn't know. He was nice, but I really feel that I taught myself. I expect more from professors, especially at an institute like Hofstra.

I highly recommend Prof. Petra for Income Tax Accounting. His notes are crystal clear. All tests are open book and final is NOT cumulative. Don't let this fool you. You HAVE to spend at least 3-5 hours each day beyond class studying the material because Individual Income Taxation can get very complicated. Don't expect to study during the exam!

Good Luck with this guy, He teaches right off the ppt (surprise surprise with most professors lately) A project and two extremely hard tests and lenghty hw problems. My textbook was my best friend throughout this course cause you basically have to teach yourself. And I highly recommend you start that project as early as possible. Does curve.

Teaches directly from ppt. slides that he purchased from the textbook company. A lot of HW problems which are much harder than anything on the exams. If you don't understand something there aren't a lot of outlets for you to use to better understand - you basically have to teach yourself.

I hate teachers who teach from powerpoint slides - that is exactly what this prof does. He sometimes is very unhelpful. Not very clear on what he means sometimes. He teaches straight from the book - I hate that too - does not leave much inspiration to go to class room. Haven't taken his exams yet! Everyone says he is hard - Lets see! Stay glued...

His lectures were clear and I understood the material, but he is one of the professors you come across where what he teaches during lectures doesnt show up on the exam. He'll ask diff. questions then you have to improvise. If you fail he will try to help though.

Very clear notes but only teaches straight from the text. Homework is off of homework manager. Tests are difficult. Helped me with advisement and made it seem like he cared and then failed me for the class. Definately has no care for his students.

Professor is great very detail write all his notes because most of the exams are based on the notes. Test are a little hard but at the end he will give you and extra credit paper to write and you could get up to 20 points for the final. He is great I recommed him very nice guy.

Nice professor, gives detailed notes. Curves the grades a bit. The class is a bit boring (it is accounting), but he tries to make it interesting. Really nice person overall. Definately take him. Also try to get him to give you extra credit papers to do for the final, he grades them very leniently and its an automatic 20 points for most people.

one of the best professors i've had. His notes follow the book exactly and are very detailed. the class is kind of dry - it is cost accounting after all. He is an overall nice guy, kind of funny even. Gave a nice extra credit project at the end of the semester. Tests are kind of difficult but class was great overall. take him!

I have to agree with the rater under me. He is a very organized professor, being that its impossible to understand the text book he give you alot of help to make sense of things you dont understand. One of the better accounting professors. He always tries to help us out becuase he realized how hard the class is and it is def not easy
