Amazing prof, really does a good job at keeping the class entertained while also providing great content. Exams are all based on in class notes/feature investigations found in the book.

Dr. Ropski is a great professor. If he's teaching AFF next year, take him. Put the time in and you get the grade you want. Lecture-dense. Lecture material is only on the test. You only need the book bc of feature investigations. Gets exams back REALLY quickly, much appreciated. Handwriting is hard to read. Lectures tangents, most bio profs are

Great lectures, great teacher, really cares about his students and their success. Thing is his notes are somewhat disorganized and are more of memorizing random facts than organized notes. Uses the textbook somewhat.

Comment:
Dr. Ropski's lectures are very clear! He's always enthusiastic when teaching and uses a lot of figures/videos to ensure his students understand. If you show up to class and take notes, the tests are easy. Anything he writes on the board is fair game for the tests, and I rarely used my book to study (just to see figures again). Very easy to talk to

Very knowledgeable about subject, very nice man, respects students, cares for your success, enthusiastic. Did not use a textbook. I enjoyed the class but a warning, it is more of memorizing random facts than an organized book learning.

This is a super easy lab. The only thing that made it tough was the Lab Assistant. Ropski was clear with his information, but allows the LA's to write up the Lab Report questions and 2/3's of the Lab Practicals. If you get an LA who wants to be difficult like mine did, it makes the class much harder than it needs to be.

Very poor organization. Says everything in his notes will be on the exam - not true. He jumps around and makes it impossible to reference the text. Frequently goes on tangents that vaguely relate to the class. He has a good reputation but I would personally not take him again.

I'm not a huge fan of Biology and heard that AFF was difficult, so I was nervous. I quickly found out I had nothing to worry about and he was amazing. Rarely used the text book, just for pictures, otherwise he just straight lectures so you have to take good notes and go to class! Exams are reasonable and 100% from his notes. Best professor ever had

Had him for an 8am and made it worth waking up so early to go to class. His lectures are anything but dull, and he's always willing to answer students' questions -- even if they're about the exam or to make sure the students wrote down the correct material. You won't regret getting in his AFF class.
