Very nice a quirky guy, but extremely kind and helpful. He respects students and likes to have open class discussions about topics but will never call out someone. He can be funny when he tries to be funny, it's like having class with Micheal Scott, if Micheal Scott was an english professor. Would take again, easy grader, very helpful.

Prof Venturino was great! He really loves what he teaches. He enjoys when people are engaged in the class and participate, I feel like there never was a dull moment. He is witty and merges film, art and literature together. There were about two exams, three or four quizzes, a paper and final. If you go to class, this class is a breeze.

this man is not easy. Papers were graded harshly, class was a BORE, and the books we read were boring too. I just needed an engl+writing intensive, but this was a wrong choice. Class isn't worth it.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had. Knows what he's doing, has a great sense of humor, is always willing to help outside of class. This was a hard class, but I got an A because Prof Venturino is a fair grader and is willing to help out. Sad to see him leaving loyola.

this guy managed to turn literature into something it shouldn't be. At the end of every class, the board was loaded with terms and vocab like "theme" and "exposition" but the text was never discussed as a whole the way it should be, which never ceased to frustrate me. This ruined the class for me. If you love literature he will ruin it for you.

At times it seems as if he just nods along to what you're saying, but he and his dry, English-major humor made an otherwise snoozer of a class into something I might just be eternally interested in. It was pretty easy, too; a couple of three-page papers, one longer paper, a midterm, and a final. I'm definitely taking him for ENGL 354.

Professor Venturino is a fabulous teacher. I have no interest in literary theory and still don't, but he is passionate about the class readings and does his best to clarify dense texts. The class has an easy set-up and is structured with three papers and two tests, and he is a very fair grader.

He's a great professor, good sense of humour, and very clear about the material. Definitely one of the most helpful professor's I've ever had, and he has a good sense of humour. The only wrong with him is that he won't read drafts. If you write a good paper, he will give you an A. The tests are easy. Really good at making complicated ideas easy2get

I absolutely loved this professor. He is smart, whimsical, and very knowledgeable about English literature. The class was relatively easy, but I still finished with a B+ instead of an A. He expects a lot out of his students and his grading may be confusing at times, but I highly recommend this professor.

I would recommend taking him. He's very funny and jokes around a lot. I found him to be very helpful during class and during office hours. A few papers to write and two books to read. I did not read one of them and still got an A.

the lectures are hard to follow & can get boring. you have to take a lot of notes & copy down every word he says before any of it makes any sense. the readings are dense & he is kind of full of himself & believes himself to be above everyone else & smarter than all of us. his jokes arent funny & he doesn't go out of his way to help u if u need it:(

He's obviously a very smart man, but thinks way too highly of himself. He's constantly having students answer other students questions, which is confusing and makes the class increasingly unclear. It's a very involved class and he expects a lot of his students without giving much in return.

Great guy whose personality is only rivaled by his talent for teaching. Extremely personable and understanding. I would highly recomend him to anyone looking to take intro. to fiction. You will learn a good deal, but not feel too overwhelmed come time for a test or paper due date.
