Professor Weight is a very sweet and understanding person. His lectures can get long at times, but he brings in life examples of what we are learning about with fun stories. When he hands out homework (which are not often, and very easy assignments), you are given two chances so you should be receiving an A every time. I definitely recommend him!

Dr. Weigt is incredibly passionate about his subject. He's awkward, in the best of ways. He's thorough, and genuinely cares about his students (as all teachers should). Take good notes and pay attention and you will learn so much.

He's a bit awkward but a genius when it comes to theory. It's not a hard class if you have some background in theory coming in. Very helpful and clear. Take his class, you'll learn a lot.

Prof Weigt will explain everything about anything to you. It doesn't even have to be music theory, though his knowledge of this subject can be intimidating at times. He is always available, helpful, and seems sincerely invested in our music education. I hope to have him again in more advanced classes.

GENIUS! PURE GENIUS! Great teacher, and one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. A legend. A hero.

Indeed he is awkward -- painfully so, in fact -- but he knows the material COLD and explains clearly. Good pianist, too. If you have interest in the subject matter and sincerely want to do well, he will respond in kind.

Professor Weigt might be goofy, on the borderline of severely awkward, but he's a really clear and concise teacher. Very good at explaining concepts with examples on the piano (which is very usefull). His homework is usually pretty quick and easy and great practice (not to mention 40% of your grade, big plus!). Take his class. He's really FUNNY!!

He's great. I hadn't had theory in four years, and he was the perfect teacher for me. If you struggle with theory, this is not the teacher for you. You don't have to be a genius, but if you don't have a handle on the elementary principles of theory, you won't be able to keep up. His class was a challenge for me, but I'm glad I took it.

Weigt, I think, is misunderstood. I would not call him a top professor, but I think people grade him too harshly. He will teach you quite a bit in Music Theory VI, and stresses listening in addition to score-reading. He may not be the most interesting person, but he is a very good teacher. In an educational setting, that's really what matters.

Weigt does know a LOT about the topic, and his homework assignments are most definitely useful and wide-ranging (read: Tristan und Isolde). He's a bit awkward, and has a lot of difficulty staying on topic; he goes on tangents about unrelated things often. He does keep a lively classroom, but dont expect too much: I didnt find the class a challenge.

Prof. Weigt is a brilliant and awkward man. He lacks direction to his teaching and is hard to approach outside class. However bright a pianist and comedian in the classroom, Weigt clearly would rather be composing than teaching.

one of the best professors I've had: very knowledgeable, gives challenging (yet helpful) assignments, a talented pianist, extremely witty, and quite a character! Repertoire Wednesdays are the best! And, I must say, his digressions never fail to disappoint.

Students leave his classes knowing very little about theory. Does not communicate information. Wastes time on useless techniques. (shows off on the piano, too)
