Davenport is an excellent professor and is a kind individual. His class was definitely heavy on tests, as 66.66% of your grade is determined by the midterm and final. I took my history GE with Davenport and I loved him! I learned more in his class than all of my other classes this semester. He asked me to audit a class of his next semester, and I'm definitely going to try. Tip: GO TO CLASS and TAKE GOOD NOTES! Knowing history is not enough. You definitely need to work for an A in this class, but he's worth it!

Truly a great teacher and person. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history, he makes it interesting. Such a genuine person - funny, nice, and interested in getting to know his students. Take notes during lectures & you'll do great, he makes it very clear what you need to know & you'll end up learning very useful information.

What an amazing person. Great teacher and a great friend. Professors like Dr. Davenport are the reason that I came to Pepperdine. ALWAYS willing to meet with students outside of class to help and discuss. After taking his class, I want to be a history major!

One of the best teachers on campus. Dr. Davenport truly loves history and relates it extremely well to students. It's as enjoyable as a US History class can possible be. He's also a truly genuine, cordial, and nice guy. Not an "easy" class--you have to earn your grade by writing thoughtful and clear papers and taking weekly quizzes.

I really liked his class! it felt really laid back and easy to follow. Just be clear on your papers, pick a position, and stick with it. It was one of my favorite classes at Pepperdine I have ever taken...seriously!

He teaches revisionist history, basically he teaches his opinion on history and not so much the facts. He didn't like my writing style so I didn't do so well in the class. I didn't like this class, but I usually liked him okay.

i am in love w/ dr. davenport. even though the material can be kinda boring at times, i still went to class for some eye candy. southern gentleman, great dry sense of humor, relates well to his students, clear on what he expects academically. and he doesn't know it yet, but he's gonna marry me.

Extremely passionate about history. A little disorganized, but is ultimately very knowledgeable. Very personable, funny, (and cute.) If you make sure that your papers have a strong argument then you will do fine. Much better than any of the other HIST 304 classes.

Davenport is a really, really cool person and a fun history teacher. He seems very level headed and teaches without bias those things that many would skip over. Write your papers clearly and concisely, and make a good argument and you will get an A. Makes history very enjoyable. I love the guy.
