RECOMMENDED! Susan was a great professor! She was an easy grader with the papers and the quizzes are simple. You are able to look ahead at the assignments, she just doesn't announce them until a week or two before they are due, so know what's coming or you'll get overwhelmed. The workload is heavy- but pretty easy for a college course. ;)

No lectures provided in this class, so you better just know what is important in the chapters. She wants 10 responses on each discussion board each week! No ability to look ahead at the assignments or study guides etc. The assignments were unlocked a week before there due date, so you had a week to do something like a 30 book bibliography etc.

Comment:
The class has a work load of a 5 unit class. Everything is highly time sensitive (10 posts by Wednesday when they open Monday) and the assignments have way more work involved then needed. The class gives little room for critical thinking and you must memorize the book to pass the final. The big assignments are graded easy though. Textbook is boring

Comment:
This was the worst class I've taken! The teacher makes you participate anywhere from 10-20 times a week, which is an insane amount of posts for an online class. The final exam is worth half of your grade and because it was so over-the-top difficult a lot of the class failed. She would not work with anyone to assist with this situation.

I had an awful experience with this teacher! The work load was way too much, and she was unclear of her expectations! I also found the quizzes and final to be ridiculous memorization of random sentences in the book. I would not recommend her at all! I received my first B in her class, despite my hard work and continuous effort

I have taken 6 classes online, and many more on campus. Susan Bailer is the worst teacher I have ever experienced. I have a 3.8 gpa, and am very organized. She often referenced her family "drama" in posts and was not helpful in learning the material. I every time I asked a question, she was rude and deflective. DO NOT take her class!

Child. lit, not what I expected. Discussions were broad and boring, little interaction/guidance from teacher. Quizzes weren't about understanding course material, but tested if you had memorized random sentences from book. Text book was more like an anthology of childrens books than a learning tool.

Very inconsistant grading and absolutley no help from her at all. As a matter of fact she told me I had to learn how to cite in order to get a good grade. Not, 'here let me help you with that.' Isn't that what I'm paying her for?? DO NOT take any of her classes!!Complete waste of time and money.

Took Children's Lit. online with Bailor. I thought this would help fit my full-time crazy schedule, but it just made things worse. She fits in more assignments than anyone can handle and never puts in any time herself into the class. Take this class on campus to avoid her!

This class was supposed to be fun. There was nothing fun about Children's Lit with Bailor. It was full of rote memorization from the text, and little application of the learning. Very disappointing. First B of my college career, ruined my perfect 4.0

This online class required 70 pages of papers in 10 weeks of class, plus 1500 words per week of online interaction Susan's contributions over seven weeks were only a few sentences; I wondered at first if there was an instructor. Her stated policy is that she will not answer questions, particularly worrying in someone who is training new teachers.

Had her for children's lit online. You might have to argue your point sometimes but she listens. DON'T get behind on her assignment. They are easy but really time consuming. Read the book. The final is not open book and is based exactly on the book. Fun Class

I took this as an online course and I didn't really get much from it. Just took it because I needed it. Her quizzes were really confusing if you don't read the book WORD FOR WORD. I felt like in order to get a good score on the final you'd probably have to study everything for the entire semester!

She's tough but fair. I loved the challenge! If you aren't organized and if you don't pay attention (or if you have poor learning skills), you'll struggle. It's college, folks!!

Teaching is all about communication. She doesn't know or doesn't want to how to communicate with students. She needs to be reevaluated.
