Really great selection of course works. She really knows her stuff regarding both the films and novels chosen for this class. Her discussions are great and I like how she has students give presentations on each text or film. It really gives a great, well-rounded picture of what the students and Mizruchi are thinking about the books.

One of the most frustrating experiences with a professor so far at BU. In class she was brusque and often rude, responding to students with a simple "you're wrong" and moving on. Her expectations for papers were unclear, and I'm 90% sure she graded many papers based on the person not the writing. Class discussions very interesting though.

While she's certainly very knowledgeable about all the course works and knows literary theory, her expectations are very unclear. She does not help her students to understand what she wants.

Though she is intimidatingly brilliant, Prof. Mizruchi remains accepting of the mere mortals she teaches. Her lectures are absolutely fascinating. She expects a lot from her students, but she is a fair grader and a very nice person. She's one of the only professors at BU that I can honestly say I liked.

Prof Mizruchi is incredible. She's a brilliant professor, an accomplished writer, and a wise woman. Her discussions are always stimulating, and she loves student participation in them. Every English student should try to take a class with her.

The lectures were endlessly interesting, and Prof. M really had some great insights into the works that we read. However, the paper grading was erratic. A thesis could be "excellent" on a first draft and "weak" on the next after making few changes, and office hours were not always helpful. I am still not sure what she wants out of a top-notch paper

I really liked the lectures but her grading was really harsh and she would not give good feedback on papers. If your analysis was not the same as hers you would not get a good grade. Even if your papers improved, same grade on everything. And unhelpful with comments to improve papers.

Professor M. is everything you imagine a great English teacher to be. She's intelligent, an incredibly discussion leader, funny, and interesting. There is a considerable amount of reading, but her choices of literature are great. Probably one of the best professors I had in my four years at BU!

Prof. Mizruchi has a quick, sharp mind and is an excellent communicator. It was impressive to see her run a 70ish person class much like a seminar (two sections were collapsed into one).

Mizruchi is absolutely brilliant. Her lectures are enjoyable, and she has the greatest insights into the novels. She encourages class discussions and makes every comment relevant. She refrains from making her own opinions seem "right" and always considers those of other students. She plays devil's advocate to present all sides of arguments.

Comment:
She is intelligent. However, ALL of her opinions about the works in the class have already been formed, and that's what she bases her lectures on. She'll listen to you, or pretend to, but will not hesitate to say a student's opinion is probably not right. It doesn't make you think at all. If you like to think, don't take her class.

The best class and professor I've had. She has brilliant ideas and insights into the books, really listens and responds to student comments, and is one of the nicest, most helpful, and coolest profs ever. She's not an easy A, but she gives good feedback and you learn a lot.

Mizruchi is a cool lady: always late, caffeinated, completely spaced out, perfect english prof. Sometimes she gets too excited over her own ideas and forgets to acknowledge what other people are saying, but overall she's understanding and analytical. Classes are fun and stress-free. (PS. comparing fight club to hemingway deserves a bad grade.)

Professor Mizruchi is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is great at both stimulating discussion and allowing the students to direct the conversation. Her in depth paper comments are helpful, and she gives freedom in writing. She is open for any questions, always willing to help. Sometimes scattered, but not a problem.

I really liked Mizruchi. She was very interested in the students as much as the material. She really opened up the class to discussion and even when things came from left-field, she made it relevant.

I've taken two classes with Mizruchi and although her personal agenda can sometimes come through in lectures she remains a fair and open professor. Very quick answering emails and encourages class discussion. Great prof and willing to help out students.

It's been a full semester and I still have no idea what she wants. I have to take another class with her and I'm afraid I'll never figure it out. Her personality can be grating, and she doesn't seem to listen very well when students talk, but she's not the worst I've ever had.

I was paranoid throughout the class that Prof. Mizruchi had something personal against me. She acted pretty unprofessional at times. For instance, a friend told me she made this great connection between 'the sun also rises' and 'fight club.' That was the subject of my report-she gave me no credit.

Nice person. Discussions scattered and undirected- interesting comments, but the discussions didn't go anywhere. Interesting choice of novels.
