Professor Lehr is great. She has taught me so much about becoming a teacher and so many techniques to use. She is really helpful with figuring out ideas for after Skidmore, and gives multiple opportunities for students to meet with professionals. She gives a lot of work but its interesting and fun

I can't comment on other classes but Children's Lit & Multicultural Lit were phenomenal. You are expected to read the books & the papers can be challenging but her passion for the material makes you want to do well. She is so knowledgeable about the current lit and teaches creative ways to use them. One of the best professors I had at Skidmore!

She is incredibly stuck in her ways and is unwilling to listen to anyone who disagrees. She has become the chair of the department and is ruining it. She also has chosen to fire one of the most beloved teachers here at Skidmore. There are many great things about the education department, many of which she has, or is trying to, change. AVOID!

I highly recommend avoiding Prof Lehr. I have high standards for classes and professors and her course has been an extreme let down. She won't tolerate any disagreement with her ideas. She's pushy. She gives painfully stupid assignments that are a waste of time. I only do the work anymore to pass, not because I'm learning. She's ruined the ed dept.

Nothing is up-to-date. She's showing us stuff she did in graduate school. That was a long long time ago. She should update her curriculum. But worse is that she is so incredibly full of herself and even badmouths other professors. Not professional. Like the other person wrote: awful, awful, awful. As a class and as a person. Retire already.

She is awful. She assigns way too much work, and then has very limited rationales for assigning the work. We are not learning what we need to be learning in this pre-teaching methods class. She's horrible!! Avoid at all costs.

The most work I've ever had in a class at Skidmore. I really enjoyed what we were learning, but the amount of reading-and the papers and projects that follow-are intense! Her assignments are also quite vague & what she actually expects isn't clear. However she is a wonderful, inspiring teacher. So if you have a light schedule, it might be worth it

Arrogant professor who has us reading WAY too much! I want to read the books carefully but can't because there's too much to do after reading. WAY WAY too much work. How come all these great posts about how excellent she is happened when she was on a sabatical and not teaching? Curious.... She's smart but enough is enough!!!!!!!

The ratings on this site have nothing to do with REAL student evaluations! Why do some students choose this as a forum to vent? I LOVED her class and learned SO much from her. She made me want to become a teacher.

Perhaps a lot has changed in 10+ years but when Susan was my professor she was extremely helpful. Her goal is to get new teachers interested in using real books with their students, in new and innovative ways . The work was hard and sometimes ambiguous, but worth it. I have been teaching since 1993 and use info from this class to this day.

she made our lives a living hell. she is too full of herself and we hate her for it. her assignments are totally unclear and she picks favorites very early on. if you arent on her good side, you have no chance in succeeding. i would never ever tell anyone to take a class with susan. at least she doesnt have total control over the dept anymore
