Honestly, if you go to class and pay attention to what she says then you really do learn something. Her tests are extremely difficult, but she takes discussion greatly into account. As long as you do all the work, even if you don't do great on the tests, you can still do well in the class.

She is unapproachable. She turned me away from her office several times and told me to write her an email instead, which is complete nonsense when she can simply speak to me face to face then and there. You can tell she is trying to ACT strict in order to seem professional, which is completely idiotic of her!!

People really had me worried about this professor and because of that I anticipated the worse but she turned out to be good for me. Go to lectures. Write down figure numbers. Take notes. Participate in lecture. USE HER OFFICE HOURS!! AND SEND EMAILS EVEN IF THE QUESTION SEEMS DUMB TO YOU!! She wants to help but you have to ask for it. Expect 2 work

How to do well: Go to class. Instead of taking notes, just pay attention to what she's saying and write down the figure numbers. She only tests what she covers. The papers are rough. Select words carefully, and write as if you were a scientist. The test focus mainly on research and applications of the material, so understanding beats memorizing.

Gal isn't as bad as people say. She can be strict and rude to students, but you get used to it. She gives out mostly B's. Her class requires a lot of writing and she likes a very specific style. She wants you to write "In this paper, I will summarize.." and things like that. You learn to read scientific papers. She is experiment oriented.

Dr. Gal is the first professor I have ever had that I felt compelled to give horrible ratings in some form. She is an absurd grader. It seems as though she thinks this is a 7th grade class. In now way do I feel that the grades being received in this course reflect the work put into the assignments or the learning of the student. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

For anyone considering taking a class with her please do not. She really is a very horrible professor, a couple of years ago, she taught biol 311 and the whole class had to petition to the biol dept. b/c she would not curve even though the avg was below a 50 on all exams, the dept. made her curve, now that says a lot.

I actually love genetics but she made this the worst lab ever. she picks favorites and they get great grades however other get the worst lab grades. she's a nice woman but not helpful at all and expects you to write amazing papers on your first try. never take a class with her!

Is knowledgeable and sweet but not HELPFUL. Expects you to write like a professional scientist but stupid Peer reviews alone clearly don't help achieve that. Grades based on overall group performance meaning they NEVER reflect your individual worth. Group members can slack off while you do all the work and they still get away with same grade.

A waste of my bloody time. Explains very little of the lab reports on her stupid powerpoints but grades very harsh. Takes off a lot of points for spelling errors on the lab reports, yet there are tons of them in the Lab manual that she wrote herself.

Sweet lady. Vicious grader. Doesn't believe in double jeopardy (if you make the same mistake 10 times in the same report, that's 10 points off). Office hours only once a week, right before class. DOESN'T give A's! Rarely gives A-'s! Average =B. Not a good class if you need good grades for med school
