The best professor and class I have ever had. I honestly just loved everything about Professor Horng and the class. She is a super fun, sweet, and caring person and she really cares about her students and their success. Always available outside of class if needed. Very open-minded and understanding. If you love writing, she's your professor.

Susanna is an excellent teacher who truly cares about her students' academic success and wellbeing. She gives excellent feedback to papers, she always tries to make herself available, and she is a great listener. She even encouraged us to go out and we really bonded. She doesn't have finals or midterms, participation is really key. TAKE HER!

She's awesome! She can be a little tough but she really just wants you to be a better writer. She's very straightforward and will let you know what you need to write in your essays to get an A. Participate, it counts! She and I became so close she even wrote me a Letter of Rec, take her class, she's funny too. Wish I took her again 2nd semester :(

a very difficult grader. She gives feedback on essays, but then takes off points in your final piece for things she failed to mention in her feedback which is annoying. BUT- overall she really improved my writing and is a fantastic writing teacher.

I personally LOVED her. I picked her first semester and again the second because I really felt that through the paper and books she assigns, I became a better writer. She is very into making sure that you as a student grow in your writing capabilities. There are no tests, just 3 papers that are due every semester. I 100% recommend.

I don't like her as a person but the class is easy and interesting. She assigns interesting readings and the 3 papers you have to do are personal. Getting an A isn't hard if you just listen to what she wants. I would take the class if you can look past what she says in class.

SHE IS SO AWESOME! would definitely recommend. lectures are really interesting and she integrates a lot of cool contemporary material (books, articles, movies). assignments require a lot of soul searching but the assignments are really fun. never any tests. a lot of outside commitments/ field trips though. she is hilarious!

Susanna is amazing. It's not the easiest class, but she definitely pushes students to become better writers. Get ready to rethink how you write. She definitely isn't your conventional writing instructor. She's hilarious and very sweet. Your best option in this class is to communicate with her. Emails and Office hours work great.

not a fan. If you are good at figuring out what the teacher is looking for without them saying it, then maybe you will have a chance in this class. But otherwise, you will be a lost puppy like myself. Also, she is super intimidating and makes you feel dumb if you answer what she is asking wrong. attendance is mandatory and also dont be late.

PROS: She's funny; there is no midterm nor final exams; fair grader; she cares about her students; class is based on three major essays and a final project. CONS: Attendance's mandatory; she makes her students feel inferior (dumb) sometimes; she's mostly unclear on what she wants. RECOMMENDATIONS: Go for your other options. This class was a joke.

Susanna is a character but she definitely makes class interesting. The class isn't too much work and if you write about anything remotely controversial she'll love it. She's probably my favorite prof this semester and I'm sad I won't have her for WRI2.

If you're a drug addict, or anything of the sort, this class is for you. If you're just an average guy like me, this class will make you miserable. She expects everyone to write these VERY dramatic personal essays and read them out loud in class, which is HORRIBLE. I feared for my life when I was in that class, but I'm glad it's all over now...

I don't know why Susanna gets such bad ratings. She's one of the best writing instructors I've had. Teaches you the fundamentals and walks you through all the steps. The whole class is based on 2 essays - simple & easy. Interesting books to read in between that you won't be tested on. Only annoying thing is that she tries to act like a teenager.

It's hard to rate this professor. Good texts, great essay prompts, interesting enough in class. But she gives no feedback on the papers unless you go in. But that was only possible on one paper because we didn't get our grades until after the school year ended. What's the point of writing the essays if you can't learn from them?

Susanna really managed to show me how to improve. I took her both semesters LS Writing I/II. Take BOTH if possible because your writing will improve most if you have her for a whole year. Pay attention, do your work, go to class, don't expect to get an A for nothing. Her prompts are very interesting and her texts are too. Best professor all year.

Few professors will let you voice your own opinion. The essays you write in the class are not the typical academic assignments. Susanna teaches you to be confident in what you write. Unlike other classes, this one does not assess your ability to memorize a set of rules to write you essay; you break free of the intro-body-conclusion structure.

Susanna really helped me improve my writing, but is a huge stickler, and can be very patronizing. If she doesn't like you it will reflect in your grade and is the type of teacher who wants to teach, not relate to her students. She's a huge voyeur and if you have had a drug addiction/take her class and write about it

She really taught me a lot about writing, and I liked the texts she had us read for class, but I felt it was almost impossible to get an A. She has high expectations for your writing, and some of the essay topics are really difficult! Her class was a real challenge. Overall, a good teacher to take if you don't care about getting an A.

AMAZING PROFESSOR! She has a great sense of humor and speaks her mind without filtering. She has students read really interesting books and somehow ties them in with what we're writing about. Also has us watch some incredible films. Take her if you love to write! She's a stickler for following directions and turning things in on time. Love her!
