If you end up taking her, heres my advice 1. Read and do practice problems from the Klein book (THEY HELPED ALOT) and problems from Wiley plus 2. I legit never showed up to class, because I never understood anything she said. Her exams are ALOT harder than her lectures and require a crap load of thinking 3. Try to connect with her. ITS HARD

I took her the same time I took Otto for genetics and there couldn't be a more clear juxtaposition of good and bad teaching styles. Slayden I'm sure you are a great researcher but you should reconsider teaching, please.

Professor Slayden used to be my academic advisor, and she is by far the worst person who I have interacted with at this school. She is so incredibly rude and not helpful. I asked her to meet with me regarding academic advising three separate times and she refused to meet with me all three times. Stay away from Professor Slayden.

This was one of the worst classes I've ever taken. I had another professor like her for Physics as well. Organic Chemistry is difficult, but she is very brutal professor as well. For those you have taken Oerter for Physics, you can tell she's as difficult as him. It's almost impossible to pass her class.

The only thing that counts in Slayden's class are the four exams taken throughout the semester. She does NOT curve and her exams are very difficult. She does not sympathize with students who are struggling and what you receive is what you get. I would avoid taking her honestly, especially if you struggle with the topic.

Organic chemistry is a difficult class with difficult material. Slayden does NOT make it any easier. 4 in class exams are the only grades. Exams have tricky questions that you will have to pick through the textbook and klein's textbook line for line to know the answers to. She knows her stuff, but she is also very cold and not very compassionate.

Not a bad person, but she's the most uncaring professor ever. Exams are nothing like what you'll learn in lectures and practice problems. When I visited her office hours for help, she basically told me to learn the materials on my own. I thought I was going to give another try, but the same thing happened. She doesn't care. Avoid her at all costs.

If you want to take her, good luck. Her goal is to fail as many people as possible. I took this professor and rightfully dropped out as I realized how much this class is difficult. I know 11 people in this class and they all got F. Very unprofessional as well (She yells at you)

Honestly, just use ClutchPrep for her class. Its the same material, but someone actually teaches you. And she most certainly cannot with all of that material. Her lecture is more of an introduction to what you need to pick up on your own. Also, I do like how she shuts down stupid questions to move things along. No nonsense is a good thing.

Slayden as a person, super nice and caring. She provides a supplement to take notes on and follow along with her which is nice, but she goes pretty fast, and doesn't always take/answer questions. Make sure to go to lecture because she will explain things that aren't in the supplement. Exams are hard, like really hard, but the curve is fantastic.

For the person who said to only study from the supplement.. That's the easiest way to fail the class. The supplement is very vague compared to what you are actually tested on. I studied so much and did so many practice problems and practice tests. The actual test is 1000000x harder than what you study. The questions are worded to mess you up too.
