Comment:

Worst teacher ever. That was the only B that I got out of all my classes: and I took lots of science classes. She is quite unreasonable when it comes to grading. She can lower your grade by 50% if you just miss the word limit of the essays by 1 word. Also, the assignments are quite long and involves a lot of reading. NEVER take her class!!

Comment:

Professor Mata has been the least understanding professor I have encountered. Considering it being an online course, rather than her goal to be focused on comprehension, she instead focuses on every detail of her 23 page syllabus. She shows no compassion towards students and there is no rubric towards grading essays, which leads failing bc MLA.

Tammy Mata does not grade papers. In fact, she tears them apart. Any self-esteem you believed that you had about your English skills will be taken from you. The homework is not that bad. However, the grading of the essays makes your life extremely stressful. Would not recommend taking this course.

WAY too much homework. She assigns homework as if it is the only course the student is taking. She is an extremely tough grader who expects each assignment to be done perfectly and will give a very large grade reduction if the work is anything less than perfection. I would never recommend this professor to anyone.

It's not an "easy" class by any stretch of the imagination, but you will learn. I've been turning in between 1200-3000 words per week, so it doesn't leave a lot of time for other school work , and unfortunately I had to drop a different class because I simply didn't have time. Pay VERY close attention to her example of a proper MLA format.

If you hardworking/give your best effort, she is right for you! I loved this professor! She expects a lot in a short amount of time. If you need help, ask. Her instructions are clear. If you try your best, you will succeed in this class. Beware, you will definitely have to work for your grade. This class involves lots of reading and writing.

She is an extremely hard professor. There is a lot of work, too much if you ask me. If you have to write a 1200 work paper on a specific poem or play and answer like 30 questions on a variety of poems or plays in one week that is too much. Plus, be ready to have at least 10 points taken off for any little mistake made. She is extremely strict.

Best English teacher I have ever had! I took her my first semester of college and she explains everything and makes a clear rubric as to what is required to pass the class. Take her online and you will pass with flying colors :)

This class requires a tremendous amount of work. She acts like this is the only course you are taking.If you are taking a full load it will be almost impossible to keep up with the work.Tons of reading and writing assignments each week.Papers are torture. very picky and counts off for every little thing. I took this class online and be prepared to work. This class is easy however it is a ton of work. As far as Ms. Mata herself she is dumb. I don't understand how an english teacher can't spell and has so many grammar errors. You have to double check your work because she will mark you off for a lot of little things that she overlooked.

I am not sure how to explain it, other than an INSANE amount of work. You can tell she is one of those professors who thinks her class is the only one you are taking. I would not be a full time student and take her class again. Utterly PAINFUL. I don't see the importance of her assignments or how anyone can do them all with ANY other classes.INSANE
