Comment:
Tanner is one of the best profs I had. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches and knowledgeable. He's a fair marker and willing to help out his students. Very important to attend class and take lots of notes-he explains everything crystal clear, but talks very fast! As long as you pay attention and take notes, you'll be set for the exam.

This class is very interesting. At first I thought it would be boring, but Prof. Mirrlees's enthusiasm for the course content is contagious. He really gets into all the various arguments and engages his students in meaningful discussion about broad complex topics. Prof. Mirrlees is just an all around fantastic prof.!!

Comment:
Tanner is clearly interested in the material and is easy to understand. More so, his test are excellent: they are open-ended in that you discuss and contextualize key terms or articles, so doing well is not hard if you follow along. My only complaint is that he goes a bit fast -- you may need a laptop computer or quick hands to soak everything in.

Professor Mirrless knows what he preaches, you can tell through his enthusiasm and the information presented in lecture that he cares about what he is teaching. One of my favourite classes by far. If you like deconstructing television and its impact on society this class does just that, and Mirrlees is just the guy to teach it.

When I first saw that he was young I thought that he would have a more intersting approach at lecturing however like most proffs at york he just reads off his notes. I find that he can be a bit boring during lecture. Although he is very approachable and willing to help out in anyway, i just wish he would change his methods of teaching!

friendly, very very helpful, and thought provoking, most importantly he really takes the time to explain theories and apply (relate) them to contemporary themes that we (the tutorail)experience today.
