Tat hung chan.. where to start. Well ill be honest you will learn alot from him. He isnt much help when you need it but he does know his stuff. Other than abu jeib chan is the hardest teacher i had. There is one thing you need to know Do the homework and ONLY STUDY the homework for tests. His tests are almost identical to the homework.

Dr. Chan is very impersonable. He bases 50% of your grade on tests, guess how many tests he gives...2! Homework only counts as 20% of your grade and the rest is the final. Also, he cancels classes way too often. He canceled 4 out of my first 6 classes (80min classes). AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Courses with Chan are no cake-walk. He challenges you to think. He doesn't molly coddle students like some of the other professors. Expect to learn a lot, and a high level of difficulty. If you can't follow, ask. If that fails, you are in the wrong place.

Chan has never called anyone "stupid," I don't even understand where that would come from... He is an excellent teacher, anyone who doesn't think so is looking for an easy A. I have taken 5 classes now with Chan, and you learn more in his classes than any other professors' in the dept. His assignments show exactly what will be on the tests, and are relevant to what you would actually have to do as a computer scientist.

Worst teacher I have had at SUNY Fredonia. You are better off skipping all of his classes and just reading the book on your own. He might know his stuff, but he has no idea about proper teaching methods. I took multiple classes with him, and they were all the same. If you get an answer wrong in class, he WILL make fun of you and call you stupid.

Very intelligent, very willing to help students if they ask for it. Probably the toughest grader in the department. Workload ranges from reasonable to challenging. Clearly knows his stuff. However, needs to tone down the biting sarcasm and negative reenforcement he tends to direct at his students.

Dr. Chan is hands down the best prof in the department. He asks his students a lot, but he also teaches everything he asks you to learn with more than ample room for questions/re-explanations.
