Micro with TJ is THE BEST CLASS EVER! You will LOVE it! He's hilarious in lecture and labs are ridiculously fun. He's always willing to help you if you need it. Weekly case studies make micro interesting/applicable, esp if you're interested in medicine. Fair tests. Just take the class already...

Ted Johnson is the best prof I have had at Olaf so far. I didn't expect to enjoy this class, and he made it so interesting that I loved it! I definitely recommend taking a class from him.

Ted is honestly one of my favorite professors at Olaf. I have never met a more helpful prof. Yes, he is a little un-organized at times, but go to his office hours and he explains things crystal clear. You can tell he WANTS you to do well. He has a very effective teaching style. NEVER used the book. Memorize lectures and you're good to go.

Comment:
Microbiology was the epitome of a memorization-based course. The professor did not do much to present the material in an organized way or to paint a necessary broad picture. He was very reluctant to admit mistakes and frequently presented myths and urban legends as fact. Wise students will always question information. Very kind and helpful prof.

Comment:
He side tracks often and his lectures are not structured. He changes definitions from day to day. Not very concrete. Seek out old tests. EThankfully the unknown and lab is worth a lot. A good grade is do-able, but the class is very stressful. Ted is a wonderful guy, but he forgets that students are new to microbiology. Be ready to be stressed.

Prof. Johnson know his stuff when it comes to biology, however he is unclear on a lot of his own instructions. He assumes students know his expectations and instructions when he hasn't fully explained them. He also does not know how to write tests or grade them (especially in subjects other than biology). My experience has been limited to TIA.

Ted is a great guy and really knows his stuff when it comes to Microbiology. He really tries to make class fun by always cracking jokes and telling random stories. However, his tests are really hard-he needs to learn how to write test questions. Still, it's worth it to take a class from him!
