Not worth going to the lectures, the class was all review. The assignments were repetitive and poorly thought out. Sparr spent most lectures reading code from handouts aloud line by line, explaining what each line did. Very little new material covered. The CS dept. may already be looking at a diff teacher for this course.

Only 350 char limit so here it is short AVOID. Reasons: A tree was killed every class, 100s of useless handouts. DON'T buy textbook. Terrible lecture style. Half the class is asleep other half zoning him out. I've learned nothing, actually I think I've forgotten what good design is from looking at his code for too long. Out of chars... Again AVOID!

If it wasn't for wanting to get announcements for projects, tests, and grades, I would not have had to ever attend the class and nothing would have been lost. His grading is inconsistent and sometimes unjustifiably harsh. Lectures are boring and just take forever to explain what he has already given on handouts(and he hands out more than useful).

He will give you a huge assignment and make the most insignificant part worth 30% of the grade without telling you. Refused to give out a rubric for assignments. Lecture/recitation are a joke. Through exam one, we have covered nothing new. He is very vague, inconsistent and careless. You will regret taking a class with this man. Drollll zzzzzzzzzzz

Boring professor that doesn't grade based on any system. He hands out grades based on how he is feeling at the moment. For some reason he is also one of the most highly paid professors at the university. Truly he should be expelled.

As stated before, does not test assignment guidelines before handing them out, which helps you get sub passing grades on them if you miss one of the numerous errors corrections. He doesn't care if you are learning anything and isn't helpful.

He has no idea what he's talking about. He doesn't do the assignments before handing them out, he hands out 0's WAY too easily and tests you on topics he didn't talk about. He can't lecture either so it makes it horribly boring. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Very dry teaching style. Hands out zeros on very important assignments flagrantly over small mistakes, negating tens of hours of work over a simple mistake. Very little substance to the class and not much is taught. There is a stretch of about a month where classes aren't even held except for an exam.
