Incredible knowledge of Shakespeare and his plays. Makes reading Shakespeare fun and interesting (which isn't always the easiest read language-wise)!! You also will watch a few of the plays' movies. Thought provoking plays will often relate to current events in conversation and class discussion. Reading is the only homework and 3 recitations!

One of the best classes that I've ever taken at LMU. Her knowledge of Shakespeare and literature in general is freakin' contagious; I gained a newfound appreciation for ol' Shakey through taking this course. Constant class participation will go a long way towards helping your grade out. Not the easiest course I've ever taken, however.

Arbitrary- at first she kept waffling on what she wanted from our papers, then she gave us at least three different descriptions of what the final would be and randomly settles on a combination of two on the morning of the final. Loves the sound of her own voice, loves people to kiss up.

This class was an absolute nightmare. She speaks so fast that it's really hard to participate because you're so busy trying to get down everything she is saying. She is so busy it feels like she doesn't have any time at all. This was my worst grade at LMU because she is such a hard grader.

She is definitely smart and very well read, I will give her that, but she plays favorites like its her job. I participated more than 3/4 of the class hands down and worked my butt off, only to find out that I got handed the lowest grade Ive gotten in College (low B) just because she hated any guy or girl in the greek system.

I took de Vroom for Tragedies. Honestly the best class I've ever taken and definitely one of my favorite LMU professors. I learned a lot. De Vroom is really good at making Shakespeare relatable and understandable. I always looked forward to this class. If you read the plays and talk in class you're in good shape.

The most amazing teacher i've ever had at LMU, and possibly the smartest. I would take a class with her on anything, and frankly, she puts the rest of the English professors to shame.

one of the worst teachers I've taken at LMU. I guess the people who like her also rave about John Reiley's classes! Awful. Tries for WEEKS to see her at office hours and she refused to see me or help me after I emailed her my problem.

Talks SO fast...so much Shakespeare, not enough time. I don't think I would take her again because she goes too quickly and expects you to know EVERYTHING for the midterm and the final--too much stuff to remember, not fair.

She's not only a great professor, but a great person too-who has a wonderful enthusiasm for her subject. She offers a lot of help if you need it and she makes going to class so much fun! Our class was an hour and 15 min. long, and that wasn't enough! Don't take her if you're just looking to turn off your brain and go only for the midterm and final.

De Vroom is one of the best professors I have ever had. I looked forward to going to her class. You are expected to participate but not too much- I hate class participation and I did fine (B+). Very interesting, this class is a MUST. I will carry the interest in Shakespeare with me forever.

I have taken 3 classes w/ Dr. de Vroom. She is amazing and I would suggest her to anyone. She forces you to think differently than you may be used to, and that may appear 'hard' but just take her and experience her greatness!

I loved Shakespeare before I took this class, now I will be happy to never read it or see another play again. She is obviously plays favorites and does so throughout the semester and it affects your grade in the class directly. Horrible experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Dr. de Vroom is my favorite professor yet. She was able to invoke an intense interest for a subject that I thought I would despise. I am addicted to her quick speech, incredible insights, her passion and her wisdom. I will be sure to take all of her available courses before I graduate!
