Comment:

Very enthusiastic about class and engages students in class. She sings the ends of words and tends to be annoying. She gives out homework that is never collected. If you dont know proofs to every thing in calculus this class is rough. Takes too long to grade and doesnt post grades online. Tests are very long and somewhat unfair. Low test scores.

She's a very tough prof indeed, I was failing halfway through the semester, and i started pulling my stuff together. She will make you work your ass off for it, but I learned so much in that class I wouldn't trade it. If i ever get the chance I'll take her class again. Very smart and very nice. Just do the work and you'll be ok.

Dr. Hodge is definitely a professor to grow on. She's very upbeat all the time, but she definitely is unorganized when it comes to grading and homework. She'll give random homework assignments, but will end up not collecting them. Your final grade is what she thinks it will be. The average test score for my class was around a little under 60%.

Didn't know what my grade was until it was posted at the end. The tests were longer than you could do in class and everyone failed them. The grading scale was not specified. Learned a lot in the end, though!

Although I didn't like her teaching method, I did learn a great deal. Unfortunately she left halfway through the semester on medical leave and completely abandoned her responsibilities to the class. The class grade was based on our final exam, which was very unfair.

Discrete Mathematical Structures. Gives "attendence quizzes," so you lose out if you don't attend. Brings food, keeps everything stimulating. HW and asking Q's in class important; hard quizzes and hard tests. Dr. Hodge is definitely willing to work with you if you're not quite getting a concept or idea.

A very challenging teacher but I learned a lot. She will often put a lot of emphasis on certain topics then very little on other, but everything is on her exams. If you read the book and study a lot you should get through. She grades your homework for correctness, so don't just blow it off, its important; they often become exam questions.

Quite a demanding professor, Dr. Hodge is an animated, energetic teacher who doles out massive bursts of work and teaches only abstract concepts. It is many times difficult to grasp the concepts in her class, and the book doesn't help in the least. I wouldn't recommend taking classes with her unless you are fully prepared to self-teach.

Dr. Hodge is the most demanding teacher I have ever had, as well as one of the most understanding. If you take her class, you will work hard. But if you put in the time (class, homework, office hours), you will be rewarded.

I am not a gifted math student. Linear algebra is the hardest class I've ever taken because I was not equipped with knowledge from anything higher than calc 2. Dr. Hodge is a challenging professor because she cares enough about you and about your choice in mathematics to force you to think for yourself. She is the best professor I have ever had.

I would not recommend taking her. She makes it seem likes she's helpful, but she really isn't. She makes you teach yourself straight out of the book and doesn't cover it. Also, we never know what our grades are. Unfair tests.

I must confess that she's a tough prof, but I believe it's for a good reason. If u're ready to learn & be stretched in yr thinking not only in math, but just in general, i will highly recommend her. However be warned, if u're not prepared to work hard & do all the reading & assignments (which as a responsible student u should), then look elsewhere

Overall, she is a good teacher and very energetic. The tests were really hard, but she gave a lot of extra credit. She was more than happy to help during her office hours. It was hard to tell what our grades were because we didn't get our homework back until way later in the semester. She did a good job of getting us to learn goemetry.
