Pretty good teacher. Concentrates on formal concerns. There to help you. Does not talk about technical concerns (like how to washing your brushes or what paint brand to buy). Non-repentant user of Gamblin paint.

He lacks understanding on project concepts when the other students in the class overhearing us understand perfectly. For an intermediate class, he doesn't give very much freedom at first but is open to ideas when the other students in the class talk about it in critique. He is very nice, but flat.

Terry is a great professor. He explains everything in great detail when it comes to projects. He is a hard professor when it comes to grading but if you show that you care about the class and are willing to ask questions and put the time in then it's no trouble at all. I had him for 2D as well as Painting I.

This teacher will drive you into the ground with out of class work. Also, if you can't paint an even coat of paint on paper and make sure it looks amazingly perfect and is the correct hue and everything, you will most likely get a D. You have to be a perfectionist to pass this class.

McKelvey is super friendly and helpful. The class is not easy and requires a pretty good deal of homework for a level 100 class. He likes to spend A LOT of time critiquing. We pretty much only used charcoal and didn't experiment much with others. Our final, however, was done in india ink. I consider that to be painting, not drawing.

he basically only uses charcoal for drawing 1 and likes to create drawings that cannot be used as real art. i have had to add scribbles to my drawings to raise my grade in his class. his assignments compared to others are crudely drawn and i have actually gotten worse at drawing this semester.

Painting. Great teacher, very clear in what he wants. Lectures a lot (boring) but is helpful. Top choice for prof. Doesn't like freshmen much, but once you get into adv courses, you're good and he's a whole lot nicer.

Crits are over an hour long, and very boring. He gives a lot of homework and prep for the crits, but is always willing to give you help and advice. I'd recommend taking him despite the work load, he's an awesome guy!

Terrance himself is very monotone & boring as is his class. No talking or messing around so if you like to listen to music as you work & talk; he's not the prof for you. He is a very hard grader & gives many assignments. Grades are mostly low B's & C's. I don't recommend him as a drawing teacher.

Prof. Mckelvey is awesome. I really enjoyed his class even though I decided not to be and art major. He always goes the extra mile to help you if he can. He's also very generous with his grades. I would definately recomend him for 2D design.

McKelvey is demanding, and the crit. are long, but I really learned alot from this class. His style is very stuctured and serious. His crit. are always helpful, constructive, and never too harsh. He always gives handouts for every assignment. Hard to get an A from, but it's possible as long as you follow directions and do what he asks and work
