she is a super chill professor. i would definitely recommend taking her class, not simply because its easy, but because she is concerned first and foremost with making you a better writer. just a few papers due but revisions are encouraged. super cool, hippy-esque chick from OB. if you dont NEED a regimented and structured course take her class!

I took her summer class and i am so glad that i did! SO EASY!!! only a few papers outside of class. not very structured, you do what you want but she helps you learn how to write. do not take her class if you need a set grading scale and structure. she likes it if you argue with her and she will NOT grade you down if you disagree.

Really awesome teacher! 2 essays with 8-10 mini papers. Mini papers are based on the book so you need the book. shes absent a few times but nice to have a day off. not an easy grader but she allows revisions. not the average lecture based english class, funer way to learn, so if you like rules & narrowmindedness your in the wrong classroom!

Fabulous! Important: if you are someone who needs rules and formats, stay away from her. Anyone willing to get out of the box and do things with little rules, this is the professor for you. Hysterical, fair, intelligent, everything one could wish for in an English professor. Go for her!

i would take Relf again. she's very easy going. class is canceled a lot, sometimes you are let out early, she responds to email quick. the only major assignments we did were the journal entries and the essays. it was a great class even though we didn't do much.

I didn't really feel comforatble with her lenient teaching style, and wasn't really interesting in class talks. Mainly just showed up and sat. she missed a lot of class, and didn't really lecture about anything. Talked about obscure topics, but essays are doable and she allows for lots of revisions. She's a pretty cool person, ok teacher.Go for it!

She's a pretty laid back person, very down to earth. Some of her assignments are confusing but if you ask her for clarification she'll give it to you. Not much homework but there is essays. Just do you work and you'll get a good grade.

If you didn't have her for 101 dont expect to understand what she wants.. she assigns things without explanation of what she wants and goes off on crazy tangents. She isn't a bad professor, lectures are interesting and full of discussion. If you don't like structure she is your type of professor, if you need guidelines and direction, not suggested.

She is super fun. if you are a laid back person who enjoys hearing other peoples stories on things you should take her. She assigns essay's based on whatever you want so long as it is covers the writing instructions learned in class. the final is a group effort, so being friendly with classmates and creative is good.

Took me a while to get used to her relaxed lecture style. I think getting class discussions going is her way of encouraging everyone to become critical thinkers. I enjoyed getting my papers back. She gives a lot of positive and helpful comments. I would take her again.

Comment:

Trelf is a genuine teacher who loves her work, her students and WRITING! She has been an inspiration that no matter what your circumstances are there's something to write about. Her methods are different, but they work. Learning in her class is enjoyable and you really learn from your mistakes and then move on to another subject. TAKE HER CLASS!

She's very smart and zany. She doesn't worry about minor rules, and doesn't waste your time but she will help you improve your writing a lot. She is a professional writer, and has been published in books, and newspapers, and they teach from some of her writing at San Diego State. She used to be a professional rock musician!

I was scared at first but she loosens up and get real with you. Very nice & easy way of teaching. Loves her job & is reasonable with requiremtents. Do all the papers on time & do the rewrites for better grades and you'll do fine. Love her!!!
