Spiker is the GOAT. Lectures and guest speakers were amazing. However, the exams were challenging because he asks questions that were very specific from his lectures. Just show up, do the work and study, and you will be fine.

Lecture is optional but you'll want to come. Spiker is AMAZING. The class is super interesting and all the people he knows that come and lecture make the class even better. I recommend this class to all of my friends. The best part is that the class is an Easy A as long as you show up for reviews you'll do just fine.

Ted Spiker is THE MAN! Seriously, though. I took this class my very first semester at UF and it was a poor choice because I don't think any other professor or class will live up to its greatness. The lectures are fun and engaging. I never missed a class. I was too excited about what we would be discussing next. Best professor at the J-School!

I took Spiker my first semester and I'm sure no other professor will live up to him or this class. He always keeps the class lectures exciting and interesting. I never missed a lecture due to the fact that I was excited to go to class. As long as you do all the assignments and attend class and take a little notes, you will end with an A.

Comment:

If you love sports you'll love this class. Even if you don't, Spiker makes lecture very engaging and entertaining. The guest speakers are as good as they come. If you go to class and pay attention you'll do well. If you miss a guest speaker just make sure you get notes on what they said. Overall, an awesome class. 10/10 would recommend.

Absolutely the man. Prof. Spiker's lectures are absolutely hilarious and he always finds a way to surprise you. Lots of interesting information for anyone who either cares about sports or wants to go into journalism. Definitely take him if possible.

Always keeps lectures extremely fresh. Great guest speakers throughout the semester. Despite how good the guest speakers are, it doesn't take away from pure Spiker lecture periods. His lectures and enthusiasm for the class is simply that good.

One of the funniest professors I've ever had! the highlight of the class was Chad Ochocinco taking us out to lunch. Show up to class, take notes, check his Twitter/Snapchat for test hints, and always be looking for extra credit.

He's literally the best professor I've ever had in my life. His class is always entertaining, and WE SKYPED CHAD OCHOCINCO IN CLASS. We had many in-class celebrity visitors, including Jen Sterger. I would definitely take his class again. Class was packed every single time because everyone loves him.

Best teacher at UF. His lectures are awesome and worth going to. He really makes you want to learn. If there was a perfect example of a college teacher it would be him! Took this class based solely on interest. He makes it so much fun with no unnecessary assignments. There is a class blog which you must participate in however they are interesting sports topics that you are commenting on. Twitter is very involved in this class and the TA makes it even more fun. Overall great class and great professor.

Spiker is a great teacher and makes his class very interesting! I was never bored when I was in this class and actually looked forward to it. To get a good grade you do need to study your notes (take great notes!) and read ALL of the required readings. Overall fun class and it's possible to do wonderful in.

Took sports media and Society with him. It's still my favorite class that I have taken at UF. Interesting and not difficult at all. Just a lot of out of class reading but I think he cut back on it this year. He wasn't afraid to have fun and made the class a huge discussion.

Really helpful and a great teacher. Improves your writing an immense amount and really shows you what it will be like to work as a freelancer. Tough in the way that he will make you work to write better, but it's through help and ideas that makes you wish you thought of it. If I could, I would send every story to him to improve it. Amazing.
