She is very hard to understand if you don't have previous knowledge about statistics so it's very likely that you are going to need outside help in order to pass her class. She will make you complete assignments in groups during class. She can be rude with her feedback so if that bothers you I suggest you don't take her.

Unless you have taken a stats class in high school prior to coming to Southwestern, then it will be extremely difficult to learn from this professor. She takes up the entire time lecturing with an extremely monotone voice, without clearly answering questions, and Statistics should not be too hard to teach, but she makes it more difficult than it is

She is nice and willing to help, but is very scattered brain. Take a different professor for stats if possible.

She is not nearly as bad as some people are saying. I think she is a really caring professor who goes easy on students who have never taken stats before. I would take another class from her.

Worst Professor I have ever had. Class was useless and she doesn't teach you anything. Puts me to sleep when she lectures if she even does that.

Dr. Shelton is a kind and friendly professor who keeps your best interests in mind. She is very lenient on due dates and will work with you to make sure everything gets turned in. Her grading system is very tough, but she lets you know how to improve for next time. My one problem with her class is the lecture, which is a little boring. Overall 9/10

Dr. Shelton is very nice, but her lectures are nigh indicipherable for beginner math students. If you're not a math person definitely do not take from her. She's an extremely tough and precise grader especially on tests and you have to do things exactly how she says. I was floundering from day one.

The toughest grader I have ever encountered. Do not take her if you don't have to. I would never take a class with her again. She is lenient with due dates or test days if you ask. You have to take good notes. If you don't understand something, do not look it up in the book because it's not how she taught it, therefore, wrong. Just ask her.

Dr. Shelton is super nice. She helps if you ask, but it's really hard to follow her train of thought during lecture. Her tests are extremely hard (like she asks for proofs verbatim) and there's only 5 questions. She's the toughest grader. You can know your stuff inside out and make a B. She's super lenient on due dates. Take her only if you must.

She's really, really lenient on due dates. Even with tests, if you ask, she may let you take it later. She pushes back homework if you bring it up in class, and it was all online, easy stuff that should've easily been done before class. Be there though, she doesn't like it when you're not.

Dr. Shelton knows what she is talking about. That being said, if you do not do calculus her way and show every bit of work, you will do poorly on the test. She is by far the toughest grader I have ever encountered, giving the most arbitrary pt values for a problem. Study your rear end off or you will not do well!

Dr. Shelton is a very nice lady, but she treats you like you have been doing the work for years. She has way to high of expectations for an entry level course. Good luck if you take her.

Comment:
Dr. Shelton should only be allowed to teach math majors. She makes topics needlessly complicated, is unhelpful in office hours/review sessions and her grading in calc 1 was based largely on how well you explained "what" you did - not if you got the answer correct. This combination makes her classes needlessly complicated and painful.

Dr. Shelton is phenomenal once you get to Diff Eq. It's definitely her subject. I've heard a lot of complaints about her from those in lower courses, but in upper courses she's great. She's the nicest person ever and is incredibly helpful outside of class. Confused by the class lecture? Go see her in her office! She will always welcome you.

Dr. Shelton is very nice, but her lectures were confusing. The presentation of stats didn't connect it to previous math or real world equations enough to understand well. I've heard she's a fantastic upper-level professor; I could definitely see that. She seems to know a lot about upper-level, but isn't as good at teaching intro.

Makes absolutely no sense in class. If you are a non-major stay far, far away from her classes. Only class I did not make an A in the entire time I was at SU. Hated her and even when I asked for help outside of class she made me feel stupid for needing it.
