I have taken Dr. Botz for both her Sociology classes, 120 and 125. I love her. She keeps things interesting and is very clear in what she expects. She grades on a curve which generally helps a lot of students out. She does expect you to be there and want to learn ( put your cells away or you will hear it)but I liked that about her. I will miss her.

I took this class a GE requirement but ended up liking it. Since the questions come from the book's test bank, there shouldn't be a problem taking the tests so long as you've read the material and reviewed the notes(like you're supppose to anyway). I enjoyed the book analysis because it forced me to read a genre I never would have on my own.

Do yourself a favor and take any other professor. She is awful. Her sense of humor is inappropriate. And her mood at the moment dictates what class will be like. You can teach yourself straight out of the book is the one good thing.

Makes SNIDE remarks about students, to the class. Thinks she's being funny, but NO ONE appreciates her sense of humor! Attendance maybe uncomfortable for those who'd like to tell her to stuff it! Must read the text, the tests are from the publishers test bank of questions.(which one may wonder are the questions from the same publisher, edition etc)

She is the director of the ASL program. Must attend every class or will be lost. Was only there to teach the 30 min lessons. Teacher aid did everything else. Thank goodness for her! Relied on book to remember signs at home. Must go to tutoring to complete final project. Would be helpful if explained signs better rather than so much by the book.

I have to say this is the BEST teacher I have ever had.She uses a combo of lectures,movies,slideshows and group actvities which are very fun.She has a wonderful sense of humor and has a very loving attitude.I would take all my courses through her if it were possible.It's odd for me to actually look forward to a class!She also grades on a scale!

I took Dr. Botz for ASL I. It left me very unprepared for ASL II and III. I had to do a lot of scrambling just to keep up in the other ASL classes because lessons were only taught the last few minutes of class. I do, however, know a lot about her daughter--always talked about her. She definitely has her favorites & she makes it ovbious!

An easy class for the most part. There is a test every week and the final is preparing a notebook and performing a song or story that you have to perform in class and get videotaped for grading. The TA did just about everything in this class: gave the tests, did chapter reviews, and graded the papers.

ASL IS EASIER THAN SPANISH!! i absolutely recommend taking sign language at cuyamaca. very easy language credits. Her sociology class may be bad (never taken it) but everyone i've talked to likes her in ASL.

This class isn't really taught tough at all. Granted, the material can be challenging and at time uninteresting, the teacher is more than fair, just be sure you make it to class! I didn't do so well, myself, but it is far from the professors fault.

hated the class. if your a dude then DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! shes a feminest to the extreme and goes off topic all the time. most of in class time is spent looking at slides of her vacations. not impressed at all. very unequil between men and women in the class.
