Comment:
As far as an honors class goes, it was easy. And for the capstone it was as minimally dry/painful as possible. Readings aren't critical and are easy enough, examples in class are relevant and not too philosophical. Two short papers, a debate, a long paper and a final. And he grades easy, but talking in class is important.

He's a nice person and wants to help you succeed but he's a horrible teacher, his lectures are very scatterbrained and are hard to follow, going to class is a chore but because he doesn't have a class schedule on the syllabus you need to go or you will miss homework and quizzes. The content isn't that hard but I wouldn't recommend him.

Never in my life have I gotten a D in a class. A lot of my friends told me that ethics is one of the easiest and best courses at Loyola, but this guy made it so bad. This was by far the toughest class I've ever had to take at Loyola and it's a core. I put in the effort and did everything he asked, yet he still gave me poor grades.

Professor Carson is the best. He tells you everything you need to know for the quizzes, midterm, and final as long as you come to class and listen to him explain the material. Really nice, intelligent, and funny professor to teach an interesting ethics class. Take him.

He's a super nice guy. Approach him with any question on the exams or paper before hand because it'll help a lot. The class is very discussion geared, which is great if you participate & engage with the material. Be sure to study the lecture outlines as they're exactly how he wants the content explained on exams, quizzes and short homeworks.

Dr. Carson is a very kind, witty and knowledgable professor. It's clear that he loves what he teaches, and that's key to the class. He gets the class into the discussions and makes the time go by quickly. The tests are "know the material as it is", with one term paper, but if you put in the work on understanding the readings you'll do fine.

Professor Carson is a sweet heart. He has the best intentions, and is very educated in his field. He opens up a lot of his lectures for discussion, and if the class participates, its a great time, (Otherwise lectures are very long and boring). He gave lots of "Homeworks" to keep us reading, and in class quizzes. A Midterm, a final, and final paper.

Comment:
I'd love to hear him commentate a Cubs game with the late Ron Santo. I probably would not want to endure another course taught by Professor Carson. He's a wonderful person, and I loved our discussions concerning the Cubs. However, his lectures aren't stale, he heavily relies on class discussion, and he is vague while lecturing.

Most boring class I had last semester, very sweet man and knows a lot about Ethics but cannot teach it at all. Very vague and his lectures put me to sleep. Overall I just felt like I was memorizing just for the quizzes and not really learning anything. I don't reccommend this class at all.

Didn't find out about the emails he sends out that include the "additional readings" until literally the day before the final. That being said, Prof Carson is a good guy. He'll try and relate the subject matter to you and succeed occasionally. Take this class for CORE credit but make sure you're organized and get all the emails he sends.

First of all, he is a nice guy. Secondly, he does love trains and baseball. However, he can be very vague. He relies heavily on class discussion, which probably will wander from the actual topic. His tests are not hard, and he is a fair grader. He really never drives a point home, but sometimes he's close. Keep up with the work; you'll be fine.

Carson is a guy with whom you'd grab a beer, watch the cubs lose a lead late and drop a game to a sub 500 team, and talk about the good old days of Banks and Santo. He's not a guy you want to teach you Aristotle.

Dr. Carson is not that bad. His lectures can be boring, sure, but how many teachers never give boring lectures? 388 is a discussion oriented class. If you like ethics/philosophy, then 388 is a great class for you. If not, don't take it. Fair grader, no real surprises on tests.

Dont get me wrong, he is a nice guy and tries to be helpful but he is just impossible to understand.

A nice, but boring professor. He does have a very monotone voice and he doesn't have a lot of passion. But if you can somehow force yourself to pay attention from time to time, he may stimulate your thinking. He's also a bit of a wierdo. And he loves trains (he has a trainset in his office). Mention trains in your essay and make him happy.
