Only take him if you're really serious about History. He graduated from Yale and he really knows his stuff. I learned a lot from him but his papers and exams are extremely challenging. He's no blow off teacher but he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be.

He really has a good heart. Now saying that, he is the worst professor I have ever had. His papers are way to hard for students.

Dr. Knox is a classic professor that teaches in lecture format. He lectures for the majority of the class and only stops if questions are asked. Grades on papers and one exam but known to cancel the exam. I enjoy his course and he has a dry british sense of humor. If you do not like story time then do not take his class.

I stopped reading the book after the second week. A week of lectures seemed to cover 3 pages of reading. Lectures were rambling, boring and disorganized. writing assignment questions were more at the level of PhD thesis topics. At least the TA was helpful to some degree. I would avoid this teacher if at all possible.

Fall 05. This is NOT an easy class- Knox expects a lot of First-Semester students. But he and the TA were very helpful. I liked the class (I got a C). Papers are hard, but you get a chance to rewrite them, quizzes and exams (Multiple Choice and Essay) are easy if you read text book (HAVE TO READ BOOK!).

Not helpful via email, but TA answered was VERY helpful (Bloom). Professor lectures forever, and it is so hard not to fall asleep in his class. LOTS of reading. Gives two chances to write paper. Slightly obnoxious sometimes. Worst teacher I've had yet.

Boring lecture classes covering topics that are pretty advanced. 4 grades: 5-6 page opinion paper (20%), 8-10 page research paper (35%), 2 exams (45%).

Very smart man but a little to smart. He rambles on about nothing and then says you dont have to know this for the test. Never know what is going to be on the test. Many pop quizes and he does take attendance. Worst teacher here yet.

if you're interested in history he was an interesting prof. I'd rather hear him lecture then do busy group work like every other prof seems to do. talked for upwards of two hours with him during office hours to clear things up. very helpful.

Easily the worst history class I've taken here. His classes are an hour of rambling. Exams are difficult because you don't know which part of his incessant rambling will appear on it. You'll find it is way too tempting to skip class.

Not a cake course. He expects you to know a lot about history before taking the course. Lots of lecturing and notes., intergrated with powerpoint. However, while it is tough, you do learn a lot (if you do the course work). 10-15 pge Term paper at the end.
