Not hard to get at least a B- in most of his 200 level classes. I've taken two classes with him, and I'm taking another next semester. He loves his job, teaching, and his students. If you participate in class, even if you're wrong when answering questions, he will like you a lot more. Not a tough workload at all, just doesn't like giving A's.

Don't treat this class like its a blow off, but you if you actually go to class, listen, participate in discussions, and do the readings it is not difficult. Dr. Mainwaring is a great professor, he's more than happy to help with anything and is very fair with grading.

I had Dr. Mainwaring for my first year seminar class, and he was extremely helpful and kind to his students. He is an extremely fair grader and an excellent advisor for students. His lessons and class discussions are very clear, and the assignments were interesting. I couldn't have asked for a better professor!!

You have to respect the main brain. he lectures can be boring but he loves what he teaches and is a pretty interesting guy. tests are average if you read and do what he tells you though there is no reason you can't succeed.

Great professor. Lectures get confusing but a great fun teacher, just have to get used to him. HARD grader on tests and papers but is willing to show you what you did wrong and recognize you for trying. I am a girl and does not think he treats me any differently.

I completely disagree with the comment about girls not taking his classes. I'm a girl and I took 3 classes, and received As in all of them. He's a good teacher. If you have him for 19th century, make sure he sings the Erie Canal song! His 300 level history classes are difficult, he expects a lot, but the trips are really fun.

I thing Dr Mainwaring is a wonderful professor. I don't think he grades unfairly and I am a girl. I flubbed up on a test, and he gave me a second chance on the next test and disreguarded the bad test.
