Amazing teacher. Extremely helpful and accessible even for a Vice Provost. He's very direct and uncensored, which is off putting for some. If you like a prof who is a well-known scholar in the field and is all business, he is your man. Really believes in you and your work. Say what you need to say, and he'll listen and help.

I had Miller for my English senior seminar. Bottom line: This guy is a committed teacher who puts a lot of prep work into his lectures and assignments. He designs tailored websites for each of his courses, and is very approachable. One caution: his courses are not easy. You'll be reading a lot of material, and writing a lot of papers.
