Comment:
Dr. Palakeel's class was pretty chill. You show up to class and talk about the readings from plays that you were assigned. Sometimes there's a quiz which he might do by surprise, but they were 5 Qs out of 3 pts so it wasn't a big deal. He cares more about the quality of your written work. If you write well, you will do well in his class.

He occasionally expects us to know detailed things that we've never learned. He doesn't penalize us for it, but it personally made me feel dumb. The textbooks weren't terrible. I did not expect to like this class but I never dreaded it.

He's a great professor who truly cares about you. He's very understanding and if you're having any trouble he is beyond helpful. Palakeel is very intellectual and will expect you to have a high level of writing, but it's okay! It's fun to push to your greatest potential.

He teaches the class (which is sophomore level, I might add) like the students are english grad students and expects copious amounts of background knowledge to relate to the texts. If you're not an english major, do not take him.

Professor Palakeel is so passionate about his career. Be VERY ready to read, a lot, and in not much time (20+ pages a night). His assignments are few, but have heavy weight. Every absence after the first 2 takes two points off of your grade, which is only 100 points in the first place. However, he is the sweetest man in the world. Take him.

Comment:
He is not a hard grader, but, there are very little points in the class so doing well on each essay is important. He is very liberal in his views and he will imply this throughout the entire semester. He constantly makes arguments for only one side, leaving the others hanging. Class is mandatory and can get boring, but overall not too bad.

Dr. Palakeel is really wonderful. While his class can be somewhat boring, he does try to engage his students. I personally have no interest in Shakespeare, but I found the class bearable. He is also really sweet and the grading is very easy. We watched a few film adaptations and it helps you understand the plays more clearly.

This class is UNBEARABLE to sit through for 3 hours unless you have a real interest in the subject but he does participation points (30 total for semester) and class is only worth 100 and he goes the FULL time w/o breaks. Hes a really nice man, easy grader and has a real passion for the bible but if you dont, I wouldn't recommend taking this class

Took both Renaissance Literature and Asian Literature with him. Great professor. Very enthusiatic about what he teaches. He is not a hard professor but do take notes because he does give a midterm and final. But he grades easy and really just wants to help students learn and get excited about literature.

I love argumentative writing, but that isn't what this class was. He would give you a topic and readings and then you basically wrote an argumentative style research paper. Prepare to get marked down and not learn why, as well as feeling that if you don't argue his point you won't get the good grade.

Palakeel inspires and makes you laugh. Best situation if you can take him over J-term in London, like me. He includes field trips and allows you to write the way you want.

Dr. Palakeel is very nice but his class is kind of boring. He just lectures all class period. However, it's relatively easy. For every Shakespeare play you have to summarize a critical article on it and write a research paper for the end of the semester.

I thought this man was a tool. The class was supposed to be writing for the screen. Al we learned about was writing a script to sell. It was all about convention and formality. Very little on the actual writing. I learned that hollywood is ugly. I didn't learn how to write a script.
