Come to class, take good notes, do the work sheets, do the example programs along with him, and definitely give yourself plenty of time to do the projects and you'll do fine. He tries to scare in the beginning saying it's really hard but it's not that bad. He can be a little mean sometimes, but if you're on his good side no problem.

Comment:

Dr. Townsend is easily one of the best chemistry professors at West Chester. Anyone who thinks his teaching style or methods are not excellent obviously has no business trying to learn Chemistry because he does an incredible job explaining everything. He also has a lot of enthusiasm for the subject so he makes it fun to learn.

just do the work [even when it gets boring] and you'll easily pass. hes very helpful during class only if you ask questions. boring guy but he knows the subject. just do ace the easy stuff in the beginning to leave some leeway if you struggle with the final project [create a simple website] evry test is open book and easy if u practice the work.

He does a good job explaining most of the material but he will put anything on the test that were on handouts. He seems disorganized in the sense that we had 1 test in the first 3 months on the semester and then 2 test in the last 3 weeks of class. It seemed like he ran out of time and tried to shove all the information at the last minute.

Townsend can be very helpful when you ask. My beef with him is that, at times, he is incredibly rude and cruel to students. He once yelled at two who were helping each other with a program-"if you're gonna talk, DO IT OUTSIDE!". He yelled at me once for using a cell phone AFTER class was over!! He lacks social tact; needs to take HowtoTeach101.

Easily the worst class I have ever taken. I had a 3.7 gpa, god knows what it will be after this course. If you are not a computer science major, DO NO TAKE THIS CLASS! as a junior, it will be the first class that I have ever dropped or failed in my entire college career. If you do take the course, I would strongly recomend another teacher...

this professor teaches as though he was teaching to a group of intel technicians (ok not like that....). He teaches like we already know the advanced assembly language, but as though we're lacking the basics. he easily gets confused and always doubts a student's interest in the subject. he's smart.... but has no clue how to teach

He is an idiot! He knows just as much (if not less) as the students. He post some stuff on a website and expect you to learn. He doesn't know what he's doing, and when you ask him a question he says he doesn't know and that is suppose to be good enough

This class was deceptively easy early on in the semester...it became increasingly difficult, though. He doesn't really teach, just lets you teach yourself. Sometimes he doesn't answer questions very clearly. But, he does let you leave whenever you're done (usually 20 min early, so that's great.)

He's not one of the most easiest teachers, but he's fair. Prepare to do some work in this class. His tests are very indepth and the programs can be tough at times. However us CSC majors have no choice but to take him for 242. So just be prepared to do some work.

The course itself was tough, but Prof. Townsend explained the material very well. He is a very tough grader for programs, but is a fantastic instructor.
