He is working on anger issues. Verbal participation is expected from everyone. Sometimes expects you to know what he barely, recently discussed in class. Interesting stories of his time in France. Do not take Vosteen's class. We only have 50 mins each class and he spends the first 20 trying to figure out the tech, the next 30 telling a completely irrelevant story, and then spends an extra 10 finally teaching. He always goes over time. He is far past useless. He doesn't teach he reads directly from the book. A complete waste of time and money

Vosteen is a nice man but not a good french teacher. He's funny and makes inappropriate jokes but he is unclear and technology really confuses him. However, if you asked specific questions, he's really good at answering them.

He doesn't really teach, he guides you so you can teach yourself from the book. Admittedly, I took French two years ago for a year at another school, so there was a year long gap between Beginning French and Vosteen's Intermediate French. He is not very willing to help me out as I have forgotten a few rather basic things. Very nice guy, though.

He is a wonderful guy himself, but as a teacher I am not so sure. You can never get a 100%, and usually three marks on your paper are equal to a 94 maybe. The grading s at his own will. He doesn't really teach the material your have to teach it to yourself. On the days we do orals we actually do talk in French but need to do it more for sure.

Vosteen is very good if you allow him to be. If you go into the class thinking you wont have to work, then think again. If you ask a question, he answers it in detail, but can sometimes get a little off topic. Great professor, I only recommend him though if you want to learn French and are willing to work hard.

Vosteen was entertaining, and the difficulty level was about right. I put a moderate amount of work into the class and got an A. There were some students who did poorly beause they couldn't be bothered to study; don't ask why they're even in college. The attendance policy was very lenient: he allows five absences before lowering a student's grade.

Yes, he's entertaining, unless you actually wanted 2 speak French. He's rude, insulting, & crude, gives quizzes every other day & exams right after. Suggest you have good memory, because memorize-cram is all you have time 4. Class tme on tests & stories, no interaction 2 practice conversation, then yells if wrong. Unless U know some Fr 1st Beware!

i love him! he is very knowledable about french and makes sure you understand what he's teaching you. he will correct you infront of the class if you make a mistake, but get used to it, and it helps others learn and builds your character :) can't wait to have him again!

VT is my fave! I think it is amazing how much he knows, not only about French, but about language as a whole. If you want to learn French for real then take Vosteen! He's amazingly helpful and wants to see you succeed and move on with French. He might get off track a little bit, but it's still about relevant stuff and to me it's interesting. I

Vosteen is by far my favorite professor at EMU. It's true that he does get easily side-tracked, and that may be a hindrance to those who aren't naturally gifted with French, but if you have a problem he will explain in EXPLICIT detail. Emphasis on the explicit. He'll make you blush, that's for sure. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I love this professor he's great!! He's very entertaining which some may like if you don't always like to be pounded about work, but you might not like it if you like to stay on task at all time and no social event! He definately expects you to work but if you're a hard working student he's definately a great professor!

He has high expectations for us, and why not? There's a ton to read, and it seems hard. However, I think Professor Vosteen has more faith in us than we do in ourselves. I am very proud of my progress in his class. He was always available during office hours and I felt comfortable popping in anytime. He writes great supplemental material.

He's one of my favorite professors that I have. He's humerous, and easy going for the most part. However, there are a lot of quizzes and tests, and it's a lot of difficult material. I have never taken a language class before, but I seem to be doing fine. It is a lot of work though.!
